In 2005, the band released a demo entitled Patterns of a Horizon. Their first full-length album was released on August 22, 2006, entitled Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord, which featured guest vocals from Cole Wallace of Gwen Stacy. A demo song titled "HTML Rulez d00d" was placed on the band's MySpace profile on January 1, 2007. On July 11, absolutepunk.net began to stream their song "Don't Dink and Drance". Their sophomore album Plagues was released subsequently on August 21, 2007. On a recent interview with East Coast Romper, the band states their influences are Underoath and Still Remains. The band performed a cover for the rap song "Still Fly", originally performed by Big Tymers, the cover song was released on the compilation album Punk Goes Crunk. Mike Hranica, the band's vocalist, also manages a clothing company called Shipshape Clothing with which he sponsors and endorses bands. Some of Shipshape's sale money goes to charities such as Skate 4 Cancer. The Devil Wears Prada began writing and recording a new album entitled "With Roots Above and Branches Below" after the Warped Tour for a planned release of May 5, 2009. Vocalist , Mike Hranica, stated that they would add a little more production to their new album."Expect a much heavier and more epic record," he stated. Keyboardist , James Baney , also stated that their new album would be more mechanical but still containing their same distinct style whereas drummer , Daniel Williams , stated that the new album would be crazier and wilder than their previous album. In Autumn 2008, they debuted a new song off their upcoming record while on tour with Underoath, Saosin, The Famine, P.O.S., and Person L. Last year at Warped Tour, in San Antonio, Texas, before the song "HTML Rulez D00d" was played, a small bird was on the set near the drumset. The entire "bird incident" is captured on the DVD that comes with the re-release of Plagues, as well as youtube. The band participated in Taco Bell's 2008 installment of Feed the Beat. On October 24, the band went through to the first round as one of the top 24 bands, and continued through to the top 12 bands. On November 7, the band was eliminated from the final round. The Devil Wears Prada are scheduled to tour the US and Canada from March to May with A Day to Remember, Sky Eats Airplane and Emarosa. They are also scheduled to perform at Warped Tour 2009 and will be playing on the entire tour. On March 13, they released a new song entitled Dez Moines along with a new layout on their MySpace. And on March 26, 2009, a song clip entitled "Assistant to the Regional Manager" was leaked onto Youtube. With the pre-order of their new album titled, "With Roots Above And Branches Below", you are given the option to receive several pre-order packages. One including a CD / DVD / Shirt deal, also it comes with a card with a code that lets you download two new unreleased songs, "Dez Moines", and "Assistant to the Regional Manager." "With Roots Above And Branches Below" has a release date set for May 5, 2009. On April 22, 2009, the song "Sassafras" was released on their Myspace page. On the weekend of April 24-26, 2009, the entire album was available for listening to on Shockhound.com before its official scheduled release date of May 5, 2009. The band launched their official website, tdwpband.com on May 5 2009. The website is a paid fan community with access to exclusive content, advance tickets and other member only content. The song "Dez Moines" will also be a free downloadable track for the video game Guitar Hero: World Tour on May 7. All 11 songs of their new album, With Roots Above and Branches Below, were released on their MySpace page on Saturday, May 9, 2009.
Always have to start off with some Wiki copy paste, right? I just started listening to this band a couple of weeks ago, and I've got to say, they're pretty good. The Devil Wears Prada is a Christian Metal/Hardcore band from Ohio. The band formed in 2005 and released a couple of demos, and, after receiving some popularity, released 3 albums between 2006 to 2009. They are currently signed on with Ferret Records. The band members: * Mike Hranica – screaming vocals * Jeremy DePoyster – rhythm guitar, clean vocals * James Baney – synthesizer, keyboards, piano * Andy Trick – bass guitar * Daniel Williams – drums, percussion * Chris Rubey – lead guitar The Albums: Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord This is their first album, released in 2006 under Rise Records. It includes re-recordings of songs on their demo along with a couple of new songs, "Texas is South," and "Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over." The last song, "Salvation," includes vocals from guest vocalist Cole Wallace of Gwen Stacey. Plagues The second album, Plagues, was released in 2007 and re-released in 2008. This is the second of the three albums, and has a lot of references in the song titles. "Number Three, Never Forget" is a reference to Dale Earnhardt, while "Reptar, King of the Ozone" is a reference to the old Nickelodeon show Rugrats, along with my personal favorite, "Goats on a Boat," which is a reference to Snakes on a Plane. With Roots Above and Branches Below The third and latest album was released May 5th, 2009 under Ferret Records. It has been given the best ratings of the albums, and while I haven't had the chance to listen to it yet, I've heard that it's the best and heaviest album of the bunch. With double bass and "killer vocals," I've been told this is the best album. In general, the albums have great flow. Each song flows into the next seamlessly, yet you can still start listening to one song without an abrupt blast of music. There you have it, The Devil Wears Prada. Not to be confused with Anne Hathaway, or the novel. The band has an anti-materialistic approach personally, and saw this name from the novel. Prada is an expensive Italian purse company, and the name is a bash on the Devil, saying he wears such purses.
A cousin of mine got me a shirt of this band...I had never heard of it before.
What an original name.
They are a pretty horrible band.
I've noticed people either seem to hate them or love them.
Yeah, that's the difference between people with good taste and bad taste for you.
No, actually. It's called an opinion.
Yeah, that's the difference between people with good taste and bad taste for you.
Oh, I didn't know opinions were factual now, thanks. I'm just making a thread on a band I like. I hate Green Day but I didn't go trolling in there. You mind keeping some common courtesy?
Ew, Metalcore. My brother listens to them and I hate it because he tries to fucking sing when he can't.
I really hate this band. All the stupid emo/scene kids in my school (well before I graduated) listened to this band. They really should learn what real metal is, or at least listen to good christian metal, like As I Lay Dying.
You hate them because emo/scene kids like them? It's possible to listen to The Devil Wears Prada and As I Lay Dying. ;)
I find them to be pretty damn awesome. The new album is really good vocals are cleaned up alot mikes gone a long way since plauges, but theres a lack of good breakdowns it seems. Anyway great band amazing live the put on great shows. And yes I listen to As I Lay dying too, and like them just not as much...
The Dez Moines song in guitar hero world tour is okay. Better than Chimera. BUt I don't like them that much, I hate death metal/ anything with the word core in the genre name
I like a few of their songs such as Dogs can grow beards all over, Still Fly, and a couple others. The breakdowns in those songs are pretty nice.

Unless they force you to listen to it then why be so butthurt about it.
You hate them because emo/scene kids like them? It's possible to listen to The Devil Wears Prada and As I Lay Dying. ;)
I fucking agree. Just yesterday I listened to The Devil Wears Prada, As I lay Dying, and Tech N9NE, along with other mixed genres. Also, hating a band for it's popularity, or who it's popular amongst is pathetic. If someone else likes it, don't get all butthurt over it. EDIT: The above poster used 'butthurt' as well. Coincidence? I think not.

band is epitome of generic shitty metalcore that people think is hardcore get the fuck out pretty soon I can't call bands hardcore because people will go OH LIKE DEVIL WEARS PRADA? shit they already say that
the band named themselves "The Devil Wears Prada" before the movie came out. They got the name from the book.
I thoroughly enjoy this band. I've always been into some good screaming and such. Not everyone's taste, but certainly mine.
In my opinion, this is a pretty good band. The singer does a good job in the screaming department, and his actual singing voice is alright. The name though, very unoriginal. There's a movie, AND a book with this name. Still good music though.
ITT: The Devil Wears Prada fanboys ( emos ) vs Metalheads ( good persons ).
ITT: The Devil Wears Prada fanboys ( scenesters ) vs Metalheads ( people who don't take showers ).
fixed
I listen to them, and I ain't scene. Hell, I'm a metalhead. I just like music.
completely terrible. metalcore and christian, oh gawd.

What I don't understand, is, why did they re-release their album Plagues, a year after the original came out. Re-releasing implies it's good. Like, the re-release of Bonded by Blood. Good idea. Re-release of some shitty bands album a year after it came out is fucking stupid. This band is horrible. I don't care that people listen to whatever they want, just don't talk to me, an actual metalhead, about some "brvtal band/concert" you listened/went to, because I just don't give a shit and you are an idiot.
If you think of yourself as "an actual metalhead" then you're in the wrong already. I'm a fan of Iron Maiden/Symphony X etc., does that make me a metalhead? When did I talk to you about the "brvtal band/concert" I listened/went to? I'm not saying they're "br00tal" I'm saying I like to listen to them once and a while. As for the re-release? Maybe the audio recordings weren't great on the first one, I don't know. I like how I'm an idiot for saying I like a band though. Because you obviously have better taste than me.
