http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/18573661 Starts at around 42:40. I can't find any news articles about this, but a first-hand video should work even better. I don't care what position you stand with OWS, but this just screams the beginning of a police state.
No it doesn't.
The fact that they're blocking off public roads to the public is a bit police-state esq
Why are everyone so pissed off? I know! Let's block the road and piss even more people off. Also what is "corporate identification" :o
Why are everyone so pissed off? I know! Let's block the road and piss even more people off. Also what is "corporate identification" :o
any License/ID issued by a business to it's workers.
I don't care what position you stand with OWS, but this just screams the beginning of a police state.
Blocking off a street is not the beginning of a police state, stop over reacting.
Wall Street: Not just a metaphor, regular Americans literally aren't allowed.
No it doesn't.
yeah, blocking a public section of new york and only allowing in specific businessmen either by id or just by recognizing their faces (what the fuck) is totally not police-state esque just another day in the free'est country on earth
yeah, blocking a public section of new york and only allowing in specific businessmen either by id or just by recognizing their faces (what the fuck) is totally not a police state just another day in the free'est country on earth
America! LAND OF THE FREE*
Police state might not be the right choice of words, but it's the closest analogy. America is becoming its own new breed of "police state"
Blocking off a street is not the beginning of a police state, stop over reacting.
Correct, if something hazardous was there. They are blocking a street specifically due to peaceful protests without any law giving them the right to. Disregarding rights for the advantage of the few is pretty much the definition of a police state.
"move back, move back, im gettin' tired of this" that officer is acting as if he is inconvenienced by the fact that people want to walk down the street lol i wonder how many people are getting mugged and robbed in NYC while these cops are wasting time making sure that only Wall Street workers are allowed on Wall Street?
Blocking off a street is not the beginning of a police state, stop over reacting.
They can and will do it everywhere else now because now they know no one will care enough. People aren't going to start caring until it goes too far for them and it's right in their face.
The fact that they're blocking off public roads to the public is a bit police-state esq
But is still within the legal rights. Even though the occupy protestors are the opposite of threatening (physical), the workers can still say they feel unsafe.
Down with freedom!
It's time to change teh lyrics to the national anthem for the states. It's no longer the land of the free.
Honestly, I can't believe that OWS is still going on. It warms my heart to see people rising up against a government they don't believe in.
America - land of the free* *only applies to straight rich white Christian males
America - land of the free* *only applies to the wealthy
Fixed that for you.
Fixed that for you.
I got all bases covered.
Corporations have more power than the government.
Corporations have more power than the government.
It's a time of chaos and conspiracy.
Corporations have more power than the government.
I disagree. Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I don't recall seeing BP or Chase having seats in Congress, or judges in the Supreme Court.
Not criticizing or condoning, but how do you recommend they handle floods of protesters attempting to block sidewalks? Not even being sensationalist, their goal for the day (according to the posters they put up) was to 'shutdown Wall Street'.
Maybe not try to stop them from fighting for a redress of grievances by cordoning off an entire street?
Corporations have more power than the government.
Corporations are people remember and since these people have lots of money they must have done a lot of good for society.
I disagree. Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I don't recall seeing BP or Chase having seats in Congress, or judges in the Supreme Court.
They're a separate entity from the government, but that doesn't mean they don't influence it to an insane degree. If you're unaware of the revolving door that is our regulatory commissions and the amount of corporate donations that go into elections, you're not paying attention.
I disagree. Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I don't recall seeing BP or Chase having seats in Congress, or judges in the Supreme Court.
Money talks.
Corporations are people remember and since these people have lots of money they must have done a lot of good for society.
They've worked hard to reach that level of corruption!
