• Petition against Ubisoft DRM

You might have heard about the new DRM that has been implemented by Ubisoft into the future releases of their games, and this new DRM technology will be debuting with the release of Assassins creed 2 on the PC. THis new DRM will require your PC to be connected to the Internet at all times during the duration of play. If you disconnect due to whatever fault in your connection, you will be booted off the game, and the game will save itself onto your hard drive. More detailed information about the new DRM technology can be obtained from this thread. People have spoken out against this DRM, and now a petition exists too. The agenda of the petition
1) That you seriously revise how the DRM works; in singe-player games (such as the soon to be released Assassin's Creed 2) an internet connection should not be constantly required. 2) You look at other DRM functions of the past (by yourself and other companies) and see how easily they are broken by pirates, whilst legal gamers must suffer through servers going down, logins not working correctly, etc. 3) That you listen to the public response, and do not make the same mistake made by recent studios by ignoring your fan-base.
Sign the petition against it's abolishment here http://www.petitiononline.com/ew15dl94/petition.html I urge FPers to show their support against the new DRM that is being implemented by Ubisoft signing this petition. Please help spread the word too!
Signed.
Petitions never work.
This isn't gonna do shit.
The best petition is to :filez: the game and not buy it or just not buy it. (User was banned for this post ("warez" - RawRKat!90))
I like to say negative stuff, fuck you.
Just don't buy the game, money has a bigger impact than an online petition, vote with your wallet.
I don't think this'll do anything but I signed it just for the sake of it
Yeah, these petitions never go anywhere. Unfortunately there will be big enough masses of nerdes just waiting to play this and that new game so this will never work. The youth has forgotten how to actually revolt. Everyone's talking about it, nobody does it. That applies to pretty much everything.
Hahah I remember the MW2 one. Still no dedicated servers. Hope is but a fleeting dream.

I am putting a petition against this petition
Yeah revolt against Ubisoft row row fight the power and shit, it's not like people have stuff to actually do.
Did you just like totally just read the last sentence. There's various forms of protest, one of these would be not buying shit from them. Seeing how most here seem to be addicted to buying new games every week that would indeed be a revolting step. It will never happen because mommys purse is still too big.
Lol internet petition. They don't work, just don't buy the friggen game.
Of course, you might as well do both. One definitely will matter (namely, not buying games), while the other has a small chance of mattering.
ITT: "I would totally buy it if it didn't have DRM."
Best way to petition is not to buy the damn games. But half the time people make noise about crappy features in games, no one responds. I remember with MW II not providing dedicated servers and such caused a lot of PC users to be outraged, and yet a shitton went and bought it. Game publishers know that to. There'll always be people to buy their products despite what a petition would say.
the best petition is obviously not to buy it
The sad thing is, if you don't buy it and pirate it to make a point about the DRM you just become an added number to reason why Ubisoft add this shitty DRM. It's an endless cycle of blame.
fuckkkkkkkkkkkk just beaten by secondsssss
The best petition is to :filez: the game and not buy it or just not buy it.
Not the best idea to post somethign like this. See you in RC.
A petition isn't changing shit. That's not how they make decisions at all. The intentions are good, but it's just not the way to even make a small dent in the problem. If they release it, and it's not successful for them, then they'll stop. That's all there is to it.
They've already leaked the Russian version of Assassins Creed 2 and there's supposedly already a crack.
Look. This new DRM will overall help the gaming community. The US is in dire need of more high speed internet spread. Requiring people to always be connected will encourage people to purchase faster connections, which will in turn improve online gameplay. You're a goddamn idiot if you can't see that.

They're going to just not buy the game...

Assassins Creedo 2 and its DRM is critical to the development of America's information infrastructure.
The only petition I've ever seen work was one to get Invader Zim back on UK television, and even then that barely worked.

Assassins Creedo 2 and its DRM is critical to the development of America's information infrastructure.
Since when is a faster connection automatically more reliable? Your logic is flawed. People might want to switch to a provider with better reliability but hardly anyone would do that just to play some silly singleplayer game. I remember the times when the customer was king. The customer is the slave nowadays, your argument just emphasizes that.
who doesn't have internet these days quit crying because you people might have to actually buy it you know why games are subpar and the devs don't listen to anyone? because they lose money on everyone wanting to get them free.

Where's the slavery there? Good game, good connection.
