Soft shadows, finally. I've been waiting for them since they were demonstrated in UE3 E3 tech demo.
Game looks great but that is about the only thing I find interesting about it.
Oh jeez, my 660Ti was struggling with AC3 already Hopefully I'll be able to run this one on at least medium settings
Some parts look amazing. They're upgrading their engine, which is nice to see. But their view distance for foliage, is unbearable. Look near the bottom right. That is some AssCreed 3 view distance going on. The game looks fantastic in closed off areas, but as soon as you climb an area, it looks horrific. For a game that emphasis on getting to high up places to look over the area and gain knowledge about it, they certainly could have optimized it better for the PC, to look like you're that high up, and not having to stare at green blotches of colours. I hope that it's actually going to look this good. Didnt FarCry look much worse in game than in the demos?

That screenshot shows the game with fog going on too. [editline]26th October 2013[/editline]
I hope that it's actually going to look this good. It might be my laptop fucking with me, but did anyone else notice small FPS stutters in the video?
i just saw a commercial on TV where they said it would be PS3 exclusive! so.. which is it?
i just saw a commercial on TV where they said it would be PS3 exclusive! so.. which is it?
You can pre order Ass Creed IV on steam. So no.
i just saw a commercial on TV where they said it would be PS3 exclusive! so.. which is it?
Exclusive content on PS3 and PS4 for 6 months, that's all.
I hope that it's actually going to look this good. Didnt FarCry look much worse in game than in the demos?
A lot of games have this, they make the demo all pretty so people will buy the game, but if they made the entire game pretty it would run like crap.
i just saw a commercial on TV where they said it would be PS3 exclusive! so.. which is it?
AC4 is pretty much the opposite of exclusive, it's coming to literally everything.
Looks beautiful.
Hopefully it'll run better than AC3. That was poorly optimised. I got about 35FPS on any setting, which is pretty atrocious.
lol the underwater scene looked so bad [editline]26th October 2013[/editline]
What about the whole being a free roaming Pirate thing? did they ever fix the issues AC3 had with AMD cards?
I just hope the freeroaming will be entertaining for you who get the game. I myself fear it could get boring pretty fast.
I just hope the freeroaming will be entertaining for you who get the game. I myself fear it could get boring pretty fast.
Freeroaming has been loads of fun in all the games, why would they suddenly decide to fuck the most important thing up?
this game looks cool regardless but i'm still not convinced at all after AC3. it had a horrible plot conclusion, it fucked up too many of the good tenets and nuances gameplay-wise that AC already had since AC2, somewhat poor choice in character (you would've thought ubi learned their lesson with overtly stoic characters after AC1) horrible framerate issues regardless of set quality (on AMD cards) and poor choice of setting. the only really redeeming part of AC3 was the ship battles, which i guess ubi caught on from considering that they're making this game. i hope ubi montreal can redeem themselves

there's so much cool shit they put in their games. but all the annoying shit prevents me from enjoying it. Mostly their "ONE BUTTON TO DO EVERYTHING" approach to controls.
Honestley, my rig has a newer video card and it was only just able to run the game on low settings, 800x600 resolution at maybe 5 fps. Then this comes along. I might just end up getting it for the xbox 360 instead.
there's so much cool shit they put in their games. but all the annoying shit prevents me from enjoying it. Mostly their "ONE BUTTON TO DO EVERYTHING" approach to controls.
you have a button for running, button for climbing, button for guarding, button for counter, button for attacking. you have as many buttons for actions as a ps3/360 controller has because it's a multiplatform game, they have to map multiple actions to buttons.

The combat controls are decent, but the movement system gets on my fucking nerves. I want to sprint through a doorway, not leap onto the door frame and hang there while people shoot my dick off. It keeps doing things that I don't want it to do, and I would much prefer if they just broke up the movement into different buttons.

Fuck all this partnering bullshit. AMD get your asses into gear. And damn I'm sick of all this AMD-exclusive / Nvidia-exclusive crap
So basically AMD gets the shit end of the stick? Guess AMD cards will suffer again. I hope my 7850 will at least be able to run this.
It might be my laptop fucking with me, but did anyone else notice small FPS stutters in the video?
I'd blame YT's player actually. It's not very smooth usually.
