• Russia warns that US increase in weapon shipments to Ukraine will fuel its civil war
Russian officials have said the US decision to supply weapons to Ukraine will fuel conflict in the east of the country. The US state department said on Friday that it would provide Ukraine with “enhanced defensive capabilities” as it continued to fight Russia-backed separatists in a low-intensity conflict. Until now, the US has only provided Ukraine with support equipment and training. It has also allowed private companies to sell small arms such as rifles to the country. But it is understood that arms such as the US-made Javelin anti-tank missiles can now be delivered to Ukraine. This was unconfirmed by the state department, however. Russia’s deputy foreign minister, Grigory Karasin, told Russian state media that the US decision “raises the danger of derailing the process of peaceful settlement in Ukraine”.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/dec/23/us-provision-of-weapons-to-ukraine-could-fuel-conflict-russia-says
A legal transaction of weapons is a non issue compared to a full blown invasion
We're the ones derailing the peace process despite the fact Russia: Violated the Budapest Memorandum on Ukraine swearing to respect it's independence and sovereignty Invaded Crimea and annexed it in a very questionable vote Has been documented supplying Ukrainian rebels with weaponry, equipment, and combat vehicles Has (unintentionally) proven it's war in Ukraine is real by soldiers on VK posting about their travels from their home bases to Ukraine, some even forgetting to turn off geo location and showing them inside Ukraine I could go on.
I am completely fine with Ukraine being delivered weapons that it can defend itself with. In a modern war, anti-tank missiles are vital.
Yes russia, sending weapons to a warzone will generally increase tensions.
It's funny that the title of this thread could technically be read as 'its civil war' including Russia's involvement too, not just Ukraine.
It's honestly suprising that some people find the shit that Russian officials say believable. "US is fueling a war in the East", the same as "US is generating an unrest in Crimea" in 2014 - total bullshit.
