So here's my situation: I would consider myself to be a considerably talented guitarist. I have been playing for three years, and I practice on average of four to five hours a day. Guitar is my sole passion in life, and I don't see that changing any time soon. I have an intense desire to join a band, however I go to a small school with a class of under 200 people. I am unable to find anybody else interested in similar music to me that is remotely proficient in any instrument necessary for a legitimate band. I would love nothing more than to collaborate with other talented musicians and create music, but I just can't fucking find anybody. Does anybody know what to do in a situation like this?
Furthermore, my guitar skills faaaar outmatch my singing skills, something I would desperately like to change. Is there anyway to change this, or did I just get the shit stick in the gene pool for vocals?
Find some less talented musicians and start a punk band.
Go solo?
Look for some place where you could find other musicians.
Where do you live? (Yes, this is related)
Also, pick up some books, if you can, grade 8. If you can play through those pieces i'll help you out a lot.
You've got to have at least a few friends who are into music as much as you. Go to concerts and talk to people. Post on craigslist that you are looking to join a band.
Write your own music. You don't necessarily have to play all the instruments yourself...

Learn more instruments. Play everything. That's what I want to do.
Go outside of your boundries, play new genres. Like jazz or classical.
Open your horizons a little and play with people that play different types of music. Even if don't really care for the type of music at least you'll be having fun and it will make you a better more rounded musician for it.
I have the same problem, except I play the drums. I don't know anyone who is that great at playing the guitar, so I can't really play anything that I want to (Mostly progressive music).
I've tried a few times to just find okay/decent guitarists, and play whatever they want to, but they never learn full songs and only learn the "cool parts", etc.
drum machine.
