Water isn't the only resource running short in California. The drought-stricken state is also low on natural gas.

Stephanie McCorkle, a spokeswoman for the grid operator, said Southern California has become increasingly dependent on natural gas-fired plants since the decision last year to shutter the troubled San Onofre nuclear power plant, which is located between Los Angeles and San Diego. When it was operating, the twin-reactor San Onofre plant produced enough power for 1.4 million homes.

Bentek analyst Luke Jackson said gas supplies entering Southern California pipelines have been considerably lower the past two days because of high gas prices and strong demand in Texas, the Pacific Northwest and the Rocky Mountain states, which has crimped gas supplies for Southern California.
Source: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/natural-gas-shortage-affects-calif-power-supply-22399432
It's like they didn't know that natural gas is a limited resource.
What a perfect time to introduce thorium reactors to the world.
But hey, at least we're not using that scary nuclear energy! I know next to nothing about it but it sounds bad based on my incredibly limited knowledge of nuclear energy and radiation, also some disasters involving nuclear energy happened! That's never happened with any other form of energy, we need to close all of the plants and refuse to adopt it!
Just ask South Dakota, they have so much of it that while getting hold of oil, they burn the gas because they can't collect and store it.
I bet they're glad they shut down that reactor huh. remember kids nuclear energy is evil.

this state is a joke.
America is a joke. Political and morally wrong on federal and state level.
Sacrifice apple headquarters to the energy gods and all will be okay. Or turn apple headquarters into an apple styled Nuclear Reactor; what the fuck would that look like. I feel as though methane will start becoming a pretty big energy source in the future.. it just won't smell pretty [editline]7th February 2014[/editline]
America is a joke. Even Russia now considering how they are handling the Olympics.
