It is now said he has internal bleeding. The story is the armco barrier penetrated the body of the car and went through his foot/leg. His hand is crushed - said to be almost severed, amputation likely.

I wouldn't be so sure, I mean Webber managed to break his legs and drive for a year with a metal plate in. Although that took him 3 months and it was just a single break.
Its a shame, when ever he seems to have a decent car (as the Renault looks this year) something goes wrong. I hope if he is out for the season it is just the one at most, it would be a real shame if it ended his career.

Way to exemplify a different class of racing - those formula cars have nowhere near the same contruction as F1 cars - with that nowhere near the safety.
Wow I was really looking forward to this season, Kubica looked to be in the runnings but this has just ruined the whole season for me.
