Robert Kubica has been taken to hospital in Italy after a high-speed rally crash. The Renault Formula 1 driver was contesting the Ronde di Andora rally in a Skoda Fabia when he had a heavy accident on the opening stage. Kubica was transported to Pietra Ligure hospital by helicopter and is currently undergoing medical checks. Reports in the Italian media say Kubica remained conscious throughout. The Renault team said it would release further information once more was known about Kubica's condition. His co-driver Jakub Gerber was not injured. Kubica has regularly contested rallies alongside his F1 career in recent years. This weekend's event in Italy was his first appearance in a Super 2000 car. Should Kubica not be fit for the start of the 2011 season, his Renault team has no shortage of reserve drivers. However, team principal Eric Boullier made it clear last week that Bruno Senna would be his number one choice to slot into a race seat - because he is the one with the most contemporary F1 experience. "I will give it to the one who is ready," Boullier said when asked which of his reserves was most likely to be used first. "Bruno is the most ready driver."
Source Twitterers are saying so far it's a broken leg and wrist :\
Who?
I hope he's OK. :ohdear:
No wonder, he was driving skoda.
Confirmed fractured broken arm and leg so far - looks to be out of the season now.
Again? Well, that's really bad, I was really looking forward to see him racin and shit.
Poor guy :/ Can't wait for 2011 F1 Season
I still remember Robert Kubica's crash in F1 2007: Wow.

Holy shit, that really must whirl around one's brain...
nnonONONONO not kubica :frown: [editline]6th February 2011[/editline] I guess senna will take him seat at renault now
Looks like it didn't roll

It is now said he has internal bleeding. The story is the armco barrier penetrated the body of the car and went through his foot/leg. His hand is crushed - said to be almost severed, amputation likely.
Confirmed fractured broken arm and leg so far - looks to be out of the season now.
I wouldn't be so sure, I mean Webber managed to break his legs and drive for a year with a metal plate in. Although that took him 3 months and it was just a single break. Its a shame, when ever he seems to have a decent car (as the Renault looks this year) something goes wrong. I hope if he is out for the season it is just the one at most, it would be a real shame if it ended his career.
Wow, he must have hit that barrier pretty damn hard. :frown:
Now that looks like a fucked up crash... Hope he will be ok
Kurwa. [editline]6th February 2011[/editline]
Yeah, that accident was really good to show how safe these cars are even at speeds of 200+mph. Wow I was really looking forward to this season, Kubica looked to be in the runnings but this has just ruined the whole season for me.
Way to exemplify a different class of racing - those formula cars have nowhere near the same contruction as F1 cars - with that nowhere near the safety.
Are you retarded? They're the closest (structurally) to F1 cars. They're pretty much toned down versions of 2007 - 2008 season cars. It's an example of how safe the monocock system which SLF cars got from Formula 1 design you twat. "A different class of racing" Ha! They're all classified under Formula racing, which are all grouped together because they're structurally similar. So don't pull shit out your ass. The lucky bastard walked away with bruised ribs and a broken leg. In the early 2000's he might have died. Don't give me your snarky bullshit when it comes to racing little boy.
Who is he?
Who is he?
It's literally on the second line.
