Paintball is cool and all but Airsoft is better. We have a subforum. All my friends converted from paintball to airsoft.

It's funny, because it's actually the opposite for most of the people I know. Everyone sort of "came of age" and graduated from airsoft to paintball. I still play airsoft from time to time, but paintball is generally much more hardcore among the people I know.
I have a dream that one day paintball and airsoft can live together, if not as companions, then as beer buddies.
Paintball > Airsoft
Airsoft is a bunch of dumb toy guns

Toy guns that propel plastic and or metal BBs at over 500 feet per second. Yah sure, toys.
Toy guns that propel plastic and or metal BBs at over 500 feet per second. Yah sure, toys.
HOLY SHIT 500 FEET PER SECOND THATS HARDCORE. I ALSO LOVE HOW MOST AIRSOFTERS DRESS UP IN EXPENSIVE UNIFORMS - instead of letting it be a game, they have to look "operator", spending more money on the look of the "gun" than the function of the "gun" itself.
I used to play airsoft and was converted the first time I played paintball.
Woods ball is where it at... Speed ball is gay.
I'd prefer to keep this thread about paintball, instead of having a fight over paintball and airsoft. Clearly there are reasons to play both, and that's up to the individual. Any opinions stated in this thread about whichever is better probably isn't going to change anyone's stance on which they prefer, and thus it's only fueling a fire I'd rather let die.
(Just so everyone knows, the title was a joke.)
I can now see into the future and predict this thread is gonna be a flamewar between airsofters and paintballers
I've played airsoft, it's alright. But I want to play paintball, Airsoft seemed too childish.

Paintball has too many rich douchey players where I live, and airsoft has that but to a lesser extent because of assholes like you.
And I do it in a facemask and t-shirt, cod is babies

This right here. And how much it hurts doesn't matter. I just do Airsoft because it's cheaper, and more of a military simulator than paintball, and I'm a realismfag.

lol plastic pellets
I got shot in the tongue with a plastic pellet once, BEAT THAT
Anyway, I've been paintballing twice and it was amazing fun. The only terrible thing is when your helmet steams up or is generally shitty and you can't see properly.

That's definitely the worst thing for me. The mask I have now is getting rather ratty, so I plan to buy a nice new one that won't have that itchy foam that surrounds the glass and irritates my cheekbones. Sometimes I just want to wear goggles, but sadly I'm generally too afraid in the event that I get hit. It's going to be a real bitch when my friends and I do overnight paintball because we're going to have to find a way to keep our masks on the entire time and still be able to see without using flashlights.

Another thing : getting shot in the mouth while wearing the helmet. The paintball gets shredded and the paint goes in your mouth.
Has anyone ever run out of paintballs and then charged while expelling CO2 to fool people on the opposite team into thinking you're still loaded? :v: Worked for me, though obviously I was a scrub playing against scrubs.
I've got an '05 model Spyder Pilot, it never likes to cock properly, and if a speck of dust gets anywhere near the bolt is stops working properly. I'm debating getting a new one, it's been years, and the gun's definitely paid me back the $120 I spent on it, and I want something that runs a little more reliably. Still, this Pilot has select-speed auto from 6bps to 13bps, supports walking up to 20bps, and has 3 and 6 shot burst fire modes, as well as both a physical and electronic safety. When it works it's fine, but when it doesn't it's crap.
I don't have anything really in terms of gear, I go out in a bright yellow hoodie, wellington boots, and windpants. I use a 20Oz CO2 tank and I'm pretty sure I've got the Halo Too hopper, it's upstairs and I CBA to check right now. I've got some shitty JT mask that cost me $15 and has never really been cleaned properly in the 5-6 years I've owned it.
Been out of the loop for years on markers, what're the top guns available in paintball nowadays for a maximum budget of $300?

Assholes like me? Clearly we're making airsoft a better activity then. Let it be a game instead of focus on everyone being "operator as fuck".

Who gives a shit if they want to dress like that
They're usually really cool (again, where I live)
I'm all for being authentic, or just going out in a T-shirt and jeans. Either way, it's fun.

The first guy is Jenkem and we don't like him in the airsoft subforum, the other two are actually some of the chillest guys on our little subforum. None of us want to argue with you guys, we'd rather just let you enjoy your sport while we enjoy ours.

Those guys are pretty far from operator. They're all airsoft forum regulars and are pretty cool guys (except for the first guy, he's a fucktard) and the guy in the middle is the only one that has a really expensive kit, mostly because he runs a gas blowback G36 becuase German uniforms are really cheap. An operator is someone who uses Multicam EVERYTHING, an M4 covered in rails, Magpul and useless attachments and a plate carrier covered in useless pouches just because real soldiers have them and are serious douchebag elitists.
I used to play woodsball, and I play airsoft now.
Woodball is similar to airsoft, but it is not as realistic to combat as airsoft is, gear or weaponswise.
I like both sports, but I play airsoft a lot more (and I tend to like it a bit more) because overall it is cheaper than paintball, and I enjoy the realism factor of it.
I'd rather not see this thread become a big flamewar between the sports, but I play on an airsoft field next to a paintball field, and i've seen paintballers look at our guns, gear, etc, and think they're cool, an a lot of the people I play with have paintball experience, or switched over from paintball.
You can say that the gear is expensive, but there are many MANY alternatives to the MOLLE plate carriers, etc out there, I haven't spent over 300 dollars on my gear total. BDU jackets and pants for the most part, are relatively cheap.
All in all, it's down to preferences, but i'd rather stick with several thousand BB's for ~20 bucks instead of a case of paint for 60 bucks. I can play all day and buy ammunition for less than 60 bucks.
[editline]7th July 2011[/editline]
I frequent the airsoft board just like the guys above me, and I agree completely with them.
Who gives a fuck if we like to dress in military uniforms and gear. Its our hobby and we're entitled to carry out our hobby any way we damn well please. Airsoft is about military simulation, so uniforms and gear are part of it. Its not like we think we're actually in the military or that our guns are real, its just part of the game. We're not a bunch of CoDfags, we actually know what we're talking about when it comes to guns and military equipment.
We like airsoft, you like paintball and thats that. Theres no need to go insulting anyone based on which they like better.
You really can't compare paintball to airsoft. And to call airsoft a "childish game" probably means you have only played hurr durr clearsoft backyard fights. I have played speedball, woodsball, and airsoft. Paintball is different in that it is more of a sport that doesn't regard to much as authenticity and tactics. Very oftenly, half the gear people wear in airsoft actually serves a purpose (chest rigs, magazine pouches, camouflage, etc.). So to assume we are just kiddies playing cowboys and indians makes you an ignoramus.
Stay off us and we'll stay off you. The constant fighting and masochistic attitude is why I don't like paintballers.
Also, if you're going to say airsoft is for kids, up here in Canada the majority of airsofters are over 18 and any fields that allow underage players to play will usually only allow people over 16 if they can prove that they're mature. There are also thousands of serving and former military members and law enforcement officers who play airsoft.
500FPS air guns in Canada are classified as a firearm.
lol paintball is betr cos it hurts hurrr durr
You sound like you're really into BDSM :)
The ignorance of a good deal of people in this thread make me lol.

Ironically we do exactly the opposite and make fun of those people. Ever since Cod4 kids have been flocking to airsoft buying all sorts of chinashit gear, railed desert eagles tacticooled ar-15's and digital camo crossdraws because they "WANT 2 PLAY COD IN REEL LIFE OMG SOOOOOO COOOOOOOL LOOK AT ME MY DEEGUL HAS AN ACOG AND MAGPUL MAG"
How you can add an acog to desert eagle and magpul accessories is beyond me but they do it.
every time someone mentions paintball
they take a jab at airsoft
whyyyyyyyyy
