• Microsoft’s Phil Spencer finally gets boned
As soon as the Xbox One was announced in May, Twitter exploded with a nickname for it: Xbone. It has stuck in the months since, but Major Nelson didn’t find it to be particularly amusing and wanted it to stop. Phil Spencer, though, realizes “Xbone” will likely stick around, and so he’s just gonna roll with it. “At first, I guess the thing that bugged me the most is I didn’t see it,” Spencer told GameSpot. “I’d been looking at the name for Xbox One for months, and I wasn’t clever enough to merge them and come up with Xbone. “I think it’s going to stick. I think we can say we don’t like it as much as we want, but it’s a clever use of the name. Probably not the most flattering name, but I think it’s going to be there.”
http://www.vg247.com/2013/10/04/micr...xbone-nickname hi ZachPL
I have a feeling every week some exec comes up with an idea for skull and bones on the xbox only to find they turned it down due to a relation to piracy.
how the fuck did they not come up with xbone? it's literally the first thing you think of when you just attempt to abbreviate the xbox one
at least xbone can be called cross bone. They should have a limited edition AC4 edition.
Thank you hungry Xbone!
I'll just be calling it the Xbox. When I refer to the Xbox 360, I just call it the 360 since it was an unusual but memorable addition to the core name of the console. "Xbox One" sounds retarded. "Xbone" sounds retarded. "The One" sounds retarded.
I never heard it be called "The One" before.
Ironically/Sarcastically, maybe. [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] Why did they even call it the Xbox One? The rumored, "Xbox Infinite" was better than that. Xbox One/Xbone will just confuse people and sounds dumb.

Call it the Xone, pronounced with a z. GET IN THE XONE

Major Nelson like whats so special about him
Major Nelson like whats so special about him
hes a very severe nelson
Major Nelson like whats so special about him
He's some kind of sponsored player guy. Last time I heard of him was back when I was still into Halo 3, it was apparently a favorite of his or something.
Was the Xbox 720 rumor any better?
Yes because it wasn't a fucking stupid and confusing name.

hi
hes a very severe nelson

He's some kind of sponsored player guy. Kinky
Major Nelson like whats so special about him
He's stronger than a half-nelson but not as strong as a full nelson.
"Xbone" sounds retarded.
i think it's fucking great, buddy [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] that came out sounding so much angrier than i meant it hahaha i just meant that saying "xbone" out loud sounds really silly and funny to me, which fits with how i view the console
Yes because it wasn't a fucking stupid and confusing name.
720 is a stupid name though
I call it the xbonx. Anyway, Xbox Infinity would have been a much better name.
at least xbone can be called cross bone.
That sounds really badass actually; too bad if I asked a friend "Did you preorder the Crossbone?" people would question what the hell I was saying.
I call it the xbonx. Anyway, Xbox Infinity would have been a much better name.
I think comcast probably has dibs on the Infinity name. [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] Or xfinity anyways.
Man, Phil Harrison cannot catch a break. He was working for Sony during the disastrous E3 press conference of 2005, and now he's working for Microsoft just as they cluster fuck their market share. He switched teams at exactly the wrong time, poor guy. Edit: Whoops. Phil Spencer, not Harrison. Well shit, it still applies. Harrison still works for Microsoft.
whenever I see xbox one in some picture (the console or just the name) I instantly read it as xbone in my head, and I can't get rid of it :v:
I call it the xbonx. Anyway, Xbox Infinity would have been a much better name.
Xbongs?
Well, I guess you gotta give Spencer props for being a good sport about it and his biggest beef being "Why didn't I think of that?"
