The first leg of his guidance was the construction sites of the Orangchon Power Station. After being briefed on the power station before a huge map showing its panoramic view, he looked round various places of the construction sites to acquaint himself in detail with the progress made in the construction. He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the people in North Hamyong Province are building another gigantic structure in the era of the WPK. He then went round the construction site of the Phalhyang Dam of the power station. Enjoying a bird’s-eye view of the construction sites, he extended warm greetings to all the builders who are working devotedly with patriotism for the prosperity of the country. He advanced important tasks that would serve as guidelines for completing the construction of the power station earlier than scheduled. It is economical to build hydro-power stations from the viewpoint of natural and geographical environment of the country which abounds in rivers and streams, and to do so provides the shortest way to satisfactorily meeting the ever-growing demand for electric power, he said, underscoring the need to continue thoroughly implementing the Party’s policy for building medium and small hydroelectric power stations in a big way while constructing large ones. He expressed his expectation and conviction that all the builders would bring about a fresh turn in the construction of the said power station by displaying mass heroism and unparalleled devotion and thus decorate with brilliant labour feats the venue of the grand festival in significant October marking the 65th anniversary of the WPK. The next leg of his guidance was the Chongjin Rabbit Breeding Stock Farm. Going round various places of the farm, including rabbit coops and veterinary treatment rooms which were built to meet the scientific and technical requirements, he learned in detail about technical equipment and production there. He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the province has successfully built the breeding stock farm, rapidly increased the production of leverets by putting their breeding on a scientific basis and supplied large quantities of duck to the people by raising rabbits and ducks together. He noted that the breeding stock farm should further develop the method of raising rabbits on the basis of the achievements made so far in order to perfect a Juche-based breeding method suited to the specific conditions of the country. It is possible to raise a lot of grass-eating animals including goats and rabbits in every part of the country with many mountains, he said, underlining the need to more dynamically conduct this work as a mass movement so as to bring about a great leap forward in turning out livestock products. That day he learned about economic affairs in North Hamgyong Province and set forth tasks to be fulfilled by it to place them on a new higher level.
