Twitter shares are expected to start trading before Thanksgiving this year. But it looks like some investors are a bit confused. A company called Tweeter Home Entertainment, which has the stock ticker TWTRQ, was up as much as 1,500% today, but fluctuated wildly. It ended the day up more than 684%. The stock was halted for a while after several outlets reported the news. Take a look at the chart:
Source
This pretty much shows how mindless and stupid the stock market is :v:
Stock market is crazy. There was a website that falsely reported some CEO's death and stocks of his company went way down then back up when they realised it was an unreliable source.
wasn't there a faked story about obama's death in an explosion or something and the stock market shit itself?
Yeah, Associated Press' twitter account got hacked and tweeted it.
I remember that either earlier this year or late last year someone got into the AP twitter account and posted that the stock market was in crisis and it threw the whole market into panic for a few hours.
This pretty much shows how mindless and stupid the stock market is :v:
it's probably a bunch of people thinking "hey people might think this is twitter heh lets buy it" when there's really very few people who think it's twitter, but the speculation itself drives it up
wasn't there a faked story about obama's death in an explosion or something and the stock market shit itself?
I think that also happened (at least for Apple) when there were fake reports of Steve Jobs dying a few months/years (don't recall the time frame) before it happened.
Bloody hipsters, no understanding of stock, wanting to say they part own twitter.. Fools and their money..
Bloody hipsters, no understanding of stock, wanting to say they part own twitter.. Fools and their money..
Most of these people probably don't understand what twitter is but they just know its successful.
Time to go public with my company GGLE Inc.

well really all one has to do is hack enough of those super-fast trading bots and flip them to dump stock, which would cause the other bots to dump stock and in a split second stocks could crash over a 1000%, its happened before, but only with a few stock-bots. that or they could find a way to trigger the stock-bots to sell
Bloody hipsters, no understanding of stock, wanting to say they part own twitter.. Fools and their money..
are you serious with this post
Bloody hipsters, no understanding of stock, wanting to say they part own twitter.. Fools and their money..
man you guys really gotta look into that term before you throw it around as if it were a buzzword
Bloody hipsters, no understanding of stock, wanting to say they part own twitter.. Fools and their money..
I read that in your avatar's voice, then I thought of the boneitis episode. Oddly appropriate.
Bloody hipsters, no understanding of stock, wanting to say they part own twitter.. Fools and their money..
Good news everyone! I've invented a device that will get these damn kids off my stock market!
This pretty much shows how mindless and stupid the stock market is :v:
Are you talking about the stock market itself or just the specific people who mindlessly buy stocks without paying attention? Because the stock market itself is absolutely necessary in order to have a corporation.
Bloody hipsters, no understanding of stock, wanting to say they part own twitter.. Fools and their money..
You do realize that much of the stock market is done by "robots" which read major news outlets twitters and the like to determine when to make certain moves, right?
I think I've heard of Tweeter before. I'm pretty sure there used to be a Tweeter home theater store in the town I used to live in. Wikipedia says the company is defunct now so this Tweeter must be a different company.
That phone call tweeter got from their broker must of been nuts. "DO YOU WANT ME TO PUSH STOCK OR SELL? WE'RE FUCKING RICH!!"
Stock market error in your favor. Collect $1000000
Stock market moar like cock market amirite?
I remember some time a few years ago when I was watching the news and they had the Dow Jones Industrial Average up on a big LCD monitor and were talking about stocks and in less than 3 seconds it plummeted -500 points which caused everyone at the studio to flip out. Turned out it was a technical glitch of some auto trading software that was referencing some other auto trading software which in turn was referencing another, which then looped back onto itself and caused 1/0.
