• France seizes 35 pirates; pirates learn nothing
The French navy has captured 35 piracy suspects off Somalia's coast - hailing it as the most successful mission since EU operations began in 2008. French officials said four mother ships and six smaller boats had been seized in four operations since last Friday. EU forces used helicopters and fired warning shots to capture the pirates, France's defence ministry said. The EU launched its anti-piracy mission in December 2008, but the pirates have since attacked ships in a wider area. The EU's mission has focused on the Gulf of Aden, one of the world's busiest shipping lanes which was being ravaged by pirates. But recently, the attackers have struck hundreds of miles further south - near the Seychelles and even as far afield as Madagascar. The defence ministry said the frigate Nivose was backed by an Italian vessel and Spanish aircraft during its three-day mission. The ministry did not specify where the action took place, but said 22 suspected pirates were held on Friday, two on Saturday and 11 more on Sunday. It is not yet clear what France intends to do with the suspects. More than 100 Somalis accused of piracy have been sent to Kenya, but very few have been convicted and most are languishing in jail awaiting trial in the country's overburdened legal system. A handful have been sent for trial in France, the Netherlands and the US. But jurisdiction over suspected pirates seized on the high seas remains unclear and calls for an international tribunal to be set up have so far come to nothing. Lawlessness in Somalia allows the pirates to function with relative impunity in their own country - and many pirate leaders have reportedly amassed fortunes through ransoms paid by shipping firms. War-ravaged Somalia has had no functioning central government since 1991.
Do what you want cause a pirate is free...you are a loser. Seriously, when will these idiots learn? It's the pirates vs. the world's combined navy forces. Also, the quote won't allow me to add any spaces for some reason. I'm expecting a call from China any day now. Le source: BBC News
You forgot the source.
They catch a boat what, once every 2-3 months? I imagine that if you can stay out of dodge it is, like most illegal business, highly lucrative.
Sounds like those pirates' careers are getting washed up.
France's first ever victory
They catch a boat what, once every 2-3 months? Pirates are found and captured at least twice, if not thrice every month or so, maybe less than that. It's just that a lot of them don't get reported.
France's first ever victory
Not really.
France's first ever victory
Funny, because France have only really lost wars to Britain and Germany.
France surrender a lot

Prussia's pwnage from France in 1806 comes to mind, but only .001% of the people on this site know about that event.
Shame that's entirely overshadowed by the fact France was absolutely crushed by Prussia in 1870.
I wouldn't call it absolutely crushed. At least France held out for 10 months and made the Prussians fight for Paris. Prussia lasted barely 18 days in the War of the Fourth Coalition and allowed the French to enter Berlin, a humiliation on a scale not seen until the campaign in Western Europe in May-June 1940.

Hey OP, edit your post to add:
(User was banned for this post ("piracy" - RawRKat!90))
French casualties were astronomical, literally hundreds of thousands were captured too. The only reason that Paris survived as long as it did was because Prussian generals opposed bombardment.
But hating on the French is fun. :saddowns:

I mean, if the pirates are such godless souls lest them be deaded
Oh, sea pirates.
Funny, because France have only really lost wars to Britain and Germany.
And Vietnam? And the Asiatic forces that invaded their eastern holdings during the confusion after their fall in Europe in the 40's?
Shitty century for the French.
The pirates only do it because they're so fucking poor in somalia it doesn't even matter, hell it's a good thing if they get put in jail, free food.
Yarr Harr Fiddledydee
Gj continuing the bumping of this thread fucker
France's first ever victory
They won the French revolution. :v: But they also lost it.
I thought the OP was about warez, until I read it lol.
The pirates aren't exactly stupid. Their technology is far outdated compared to the incredibly advanced technology they are up against yet they have managed to get a lot of money from a lot of ships. If anything, we are idiots for not being able to stop each and every one of these pirate attacks.
Whats next vikings from Norway?
I guess you could say they got captured by the French
