• Was this teacher morally wrong?

Here's an interesting true story I was reading up on the other day. There was this 7th or 8th grade teacher, and he was homosexual. He took away a student's phone, but then he started going through her personal information and her photos because he suspected her of being homosexual. Upon discovering pics that somehow proved his theory that she was a lesbian, he told the student that he was going to tell her parents that she's homosexual, even though she wasn't out of the closet yet. And she begged him not to, but he called them anyway, and when her parents came to the school to pick up her phone, he showed them that their daughter is a lesbian. Do you believe the teacher was morally in exposing her sexuality? I'm not saying it was necessarily a good idea to put anything on your phone that could possibly even hint at the possibility that you're gay, if you're still in the closet. But you know that teens are always going to have stuff like that on their phone anyway, since sexuality and dating are huge parts of being a teenager, so it could be fairly easy to put pieces together and assume someone's gay just by looking at their phone. I'm also not saying she should have been texting in class, but even if she was, the punishment of telling others, even your parents, your sexual orientation is one of the worst, most degrading things that can happen to a LGBT person, especially if their parents are homophobes. It would still be cruel and unusual punishment for the teacher to do since sending a text message in class doesn't equate to revealing your sexuality. That's against the law, pretty sure.
Illegal
That's illegal.
Even if we lived in a horrible country where that wasn't illegal, in no way can I sympathise with the teacher. That is so wrong it is unbelievable.
i'm homophobic and even i think thats wrong (i dont hate the people whos gay or lesbian,i just hate the concept)
It's not morally wrong, but it's legally wrong.
He should be locked up.

i voted no because i'm a rebel
You're going to get burned for this, don't even try and snip it.
oh no what should i ever do
That's against the law, pretty sure.
Fuck the law. As said the other guy "Laws only tell you what is legal, not what is moral."
i'm homophobic and even i think thats wrong (i dont hate the people whos gay or lesbian,i just hate the concept)
The fuck?
He was immoral before he looked at her phone, damn homophobes.
come on dont get offended by a piece of text. we're still cool
Well he's going to be saying goodbye to his job, atleast in the UK he would.
explain
I worded it wrong. It may or may not be morally wrong, but it definitely is legally wrong. Fourth Amendment and such. What I mean is that it doesn't matter if it's moral or not.
come on dont get offended by a piece of text. we're still cool
They aren't. They are simply expressing their confusion at you being against the concept of being gay but you don't mind people being gay.
What a fucking douche. Also source?
That's terrible. That teacher should lose his job.
