EA on cosmetic game items: “You probably don’t want Darth Vader in pink”

I didn't want a star wars themed casino either.
I would love to rock a pink Darth Vader.
Just not for money.
To be honest it's true in part. The complete lack of thematic consistency in unlockable equipment was one of the worst things to happen to TF2, the saving grace being that TF2:s desert-industrial theme wasn't particularly interesting in the first place.
That being said, thematically/canonically inappropriate loot boxes are an order of magnitude less disruptive than gameplay-altering ones.
You know I hadn't thought of it before now, but now I definitely want it
okay then just make it so the cosmetics fit the lore? if they're so worried about shit getting wacky and crazy then they can just not make stuff get wacky and crazy lol

Speak for yourself, TF2's initial idea of "the two most powerful corporations in the world hiding their mid-century spy bases behind a paper-thin industrial facade" might be one of my favorite settings in videogames.

I mean Star Wars in general's merchandise is thematically/canonically inappropriate so I'm not sure why anyone seems to care in the first place.
I mean look at this shit:

It's just a big red vader
I hope at some big event with EA showing off their dirty money grubbing hands, someone just shows up in a Darth Vader cosplay, painted in The Pinkest Pink.

Because having cosmetics means only pink/gold shit instead of actually decent skins right?
Besides, how is having a lore-breaking helmet skin worse than having lore-breaking character in lore-breaking locations.

Actually I wouldn't be wholly against an ACTUAL star wars themed casino complete with animatronic jizzwailers and a menu of Star Wars themed culinary cunstructivist food and a collection of every single Star Wars arcade game.

The game already has cosmetics for heroes, and cosmetics for troops hidden away in the code.
I'm so confused about what is going on here.
"I don't want idiots wearing bright pink X ruining the game for me" is usually an argument I find in the back end of a game forum where someone is being a pedant about allowing other players to customize shit at all, I never expected it to come from the mouth of someone in charge of the game who should know how cosmetics and general customization can and should work
