"One of the customs drug dogs [was] released in the arrivals hall and marked immediately the rap star," Verdens Gang says about Snoop Dogg's pot bust.
The customs agents who busted Snoop Dogg "tell of a polite star who did what he was asked. He acted without any prima donna whims, and was nice, customs officials told VG.
"They say, however, that they did not know who Snoop Dogg was before he showed identification," the Norwegian report states. (Which is interesting, since that ID likely bore Snoop Dogg's legal name, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.)
The Doggfather was caught with 8 grams of marijuana, though it's not clear where he'd stashed it. Under Norwegian law, possession of up to 15 grams of pot is punishable by a fine of up to 5,000 kroner, or about $827, according to E! News.
Unfortunately for Snoop, customs agents also fined him an additional 52,000 kroner (about $8,600) for carrying too much cash into the country without declaring it at customs. Snoop Dogg apparently had $7,000 more cash than allowed under Norwegian law, the New York Daily News reports.
It's a good thing Snoop Dogg's pot bust didn't happen at U.S. customs. "If you attempt to bring illegal contraband (including drug paraphernalia such as pipes) into the U.S., it will be seized and you will be subject to fines, penalties, and possible arrest," according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. It doesn't matter if the pot is medicinal, or if the person carrying it has any prima donna whims.[/quote]
