So close, in fact, that the studio even commissioned a new ninja rap for the TMNT reboot from Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign (and featuring Kill The Noise & Madsonik) titled “Shell Shocked - playing off of nostalgia for TMNT 2: The Secret of the Ooze and its infamous Vanilla Ice scene/dance number “Ninja Rap (Go Ninja Go!).” Unsurprisingly, many longtime Ninja Turtle fans rolled their eyes at the new song – and, apparently, they were not alone.
Vanilla Ice Ninja Rap TMNT Vanilla Ice Not a Fan of New TMNT Rap Song Shell Shocked
Speaking to GQ Magazine, Vanilla Ice said that he’s not a fan of the new TMNT rap song either – calling “Shell Shocked” an artificial cash grab:
"With respect to all of the artists, the song doesn’t really do it for me. It feels a little artificial—what I mean by that is that it sounds like a bunch of executives in the corporate world put it together. It really does not fit the theme of the Ninja Turtles legend. I think you have to understand, and be a true Ninja, to possess the Magic to really pull off the secret sround"
Half the song is
GO NINJA GO GO NINJA GO
GO GO GO GO
NINJA RAP NINJA RAP
EDIT: When half the song is literally saying NINJA RAP doesn't make it a rap song, shit not even half of it is rap, I correct myself when I say half, I mean it is literally 75% of the song

nice
I like to think that everything Vanilla Ice says or does has at least one level of sarcasm or irony attached to it.
Coming from the guy who took the bass line from Under Pressure
Coming from the guy who took the bass line from Under Pressure
and got sued up the ass for it
well its definitely ironic but i dont think thats intentional
Yeah well you have horrible hair.
and got sued up the ass for it
AFAIK he was never actually sued for it... or at least nothing ever came of it.
Yeah Vanilla Ice's most recent album "W.T.F." was much better.

He also has a song featuring Insane Clown Posse.

He said it was different. He said it had an extra beat or something.

But it's clearly still the bass line from Under Pressure

He was on one of those TMz top 40 countdowns or some shit a while ago, and he still denies that it was a him just blatantly thieving from 'Under Pressure'.

Just look at that grin. He's a champ.
Because Vanilla Ice is renowned for quality compositions that will echo through the ages.

um yeah thats called a bridge
and its something thats prettty common in music in general
He made one good song a long time ago, why's he such a big deal this is what we have enimem for.
I still won't forgive him for the awful "Cool As Ice" movie. Or anything he ever did, really. But mostly "Cool As Ice".
and nobody cared...
But it's clearly still the bass line from Under Pressure
Who really gives a fuck? Audio sampling is really common in hip-hop and rap and it's not like he just copied the song word for word and note for note. People can do covers and parodies legally so I don't see why using a bass line makes one worse than Hitler.
his pizza gun
can fire in bursts
if he shoots ya
it's gonna hurt

only reason its really a problem is if he is claiming it to be his own but at this point it doesn't even matter anymore

why are cheesy rap songs so prevalent in my childhood
But it's clearly still the bass line from Under Pressure
"another one bites the dust" is just a modified version of the bassline from "good times" by chic
cool, so has rap for the last like 5 years
Vanilla Ice was the man. He embodies the whole goofy rap scene before it became all serious and competitive.
He kinda hates himself for it, though. There was a Big Brother kind of show with oldschool famous people, including Vanilla Ice, and he kept ripping posters of himself off the wall. He does not want to be remembered of that time.

Because ever since Freddie Mercury died, Queen has been immortalized as some kind of untouchable criticism-free forever-in-stasis band, and if you cover or sample their songs you're Satan himself.

Because when people do covers or use samples they have to get it cleared by the record company before they can make money off it, the label keeps making money and the original artists get get their cut and are credited.
Ice didn't do that and denied that he did use a sample, then later admitted he did and Queen and Bowie then got their credit. The story in that regard is over yet people still mumble about it, when all that needed doing about it has been done.
