http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/music/article/821456--different-thrills-for-katy-perry-lady-gaga [release]Katy Perry thinks Lady Gaga’s new music video “Alejandro” stinks, because it uses religion for cheap thrills. “Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke,” Perry tweeted to her fans Tuesday. The eight-minute-long video features Gaga in a latex nun’s habit with a cross over her groin, eating a string of rosary beads before she is stripped naked and ravaged by a group of men. It's no surprise that Perry is taking issue with the imagery considering her strict religious upbringing, New York’s tabloid Daily News reports. Perry's parents are Christian pastors and she first started singing in their church. According to the “I Kissed a Girl” singer, she was not allowed to listen to secular music and grew up on gospel. Perry even released a gospel album under the name Katy Hudson in 2001, six years before she rose to fame as Katy Perry with the album One of the Boys. The 25-year-old pop sensation doesn't seem to have a problem with controversial subject matter as long as it’s tasteful. On Tuesday, the same day “Alejandro” hit the net, Perry released her “California Gurls” video in which frosting shoots from her breasts.[/release] Goddamn Christians getting butthurt over everything.
Katie Perry is just a butthurt baby.
This is madness.
This is NEWS THREADS!
Both of them suck. I care about neither.
This is Lady Gaga, the singer that tries so hard to be avant-garde, and in fact succeeds but by doing so alters our image from a human into something of a machine. Although somehow I doubt she ever was a human.
...Later Katy Perry's husband makes a fart joke. Edit: really.
She may think fart jokes are cheap, but her comedian fiancé seems to think that they're HIGHlarious - especially when she's the one guilty of the gas! Russell Brand recently revealed that his special gal, Miz Katy Perry, happens to be quite fond of farting! He says: "That woman is like a flatulence factory. The pop hits that she fires out of her mouth are nothing compared to what comes out the other end of her!" Suddenly it all makes sense! Were you cutting some cheese earlier when you wrote that GaGa Tweet, bb?? LOLz! The song is catchy. [editline]10:07AM[/editline] Hell, all of of Lady Gaga's songs are catchy.
Katy Perry looks like Zoe, so her shenanigans are acceptable
Yeah well supporting homophobic stereotypes is just about as classy as blasphemy in my book miss Katy Perry, so shove it. At least I can respect Lady Gaga for her support of the LGBT community.
SO IWAS LIKE FAAART AND THEN SOME POOPEE CAME OUT!
Has anyone told Lady Gaga that Madonna isn't dead yet?

Since when was what someone tweeted news?
[release]According to the “I Kissed a Girl” singer, she was not allowed to listen to secular music and grew up on gospel.[/release]
Indoctrination? Wut's dat?
Since when was what someone tweeted news?
It's a communication tool like any other, isn't it? If the first we heard of some epic disaster was over twitter, that doesn't mean the media would ignore it. Celebrities bitching at each other makes big news nowadays...
Since when was what someone tweeted news?
We'll never know some things in this world...
I love how she's bitching about blasphemy when she sang a song called "I Kissed A Girl And I Liked It".
perry is put to the side since gaga's new video and this is her (hopefully) final cry for attention.
Katy Perry is probably just butthurt over the fact Lady Gaga is a lot more popular than her. Seriously, most people have only heard that "I Kissed a Girl" song, where-as heck loads of people listen to Gaga's songs daily. I don't listen to ether regularly, though from what I've heard, Gaga's a better singer than Katy [/opinion].
Well seeing as Gaga is ugly, I'm with Katy Perry on this one. That's the best way to choose a side.
Good job, Katy! Alienate your fans!
Katy Perry moaning about blasphemy after making a song about lesbians, oh please.
Katy Perry can shove rosemarry up her ass.
Show me the video

This is blasphemous, but her dancing in a fountain is totally respectable? She needs to fuck off.
I'm not sure where i stand on this. Regardless of whether or not Perry calling Gaga's video blasphemy is hypocritical (which it isn't, by definition) is irrelevant if she's right. You don't have to agree with Christianity or its views to see that its symbols are being abused in the video. That being said, I don't really think Gaga meant to offend anyone with her video. Not outright, anyway. She's fucking weird, of course, but I don't think she meant to offend. I don't think either side is looking deep enough into why she used the crap she used in the video (although we could be trying to look too deep, she could have just been trying to be edgy). It's my personal opinion that she was expressing her own views on religion with that video (albeit a video that had absolutely nothing to do with the song she was saying), and that while she didn't intend anyone to get really offended (which, quite frankly, she should have realized), people still took it the wrong way. Which isn't surprising, because that's exactly what people do. You call them butthurt, but anyone that has a belief that could somehow be made fun of will notice when things offend them, even if they're not meant to be. And the anti-Christian bandwagoning on FP is really starting to annoy me. I'm a neutral party here, but why exactly is that the chosen religion to mock? There are like thousands more organized religions in the world.
i think she should shut up and just get naked already.
