Let's boycott BP so they can't afford to fix their problem! /sarcasm

Okay, so I just wanted to bring this point up to someone who actually had an opinion on the situation, and none of my friends are intellects. I saw some girl join the "Boycott BP" page on Facebook, and some thoughts arised. One, she probably has NO idea what's actually going on, so for her to blindly choose an opinion based on popular belief irritated me. Then I thought, I really don't know the specifics of the oil spill. So I did some reading, and I learned that BP loses roughly $400,000 a day because of the spill. Now, I'm sure fixing the problem isn't cheap. So for people to try to "boycott" BP is ridiculous. If one wants to have a positive impact on the situation, one should probably be more supportive instead of trying to "stick it to the man".
Update: It fucking FASCINATES me that there are SO many ignorant idiots in the world.

Read the things that these people post on the wall. Almost all of the posts are ignorant, uneducated sentences.
Anyone blaming BP for what happens need a good punch in the face.
Facts:
BP didn't make the rig,
BP didn't own the rig,
BP was just the company buying oil from the drillers - yes, they put un-necessary pressure on them to get more oil out of the well, but every company with half a mind would try to get as much money in as little time as possible, otherwise they'd be a shit company.
BP are now spending immense amounts of money (which realistically will end them as a company) trying to clean up the mess.
It's fucking incredible that people are retarded enough to think boycotting BP would do any good at all.
Thank you.
Why boycott them their gas is cheaper because of the spill.
I saw a woman in a small town with the poster "BOYCOTT BP" in the back of her car window.
Needless to say, I raged.
They're just morons who don't understand the situation.
I haven't been on these forums in a while, but a while back everyone was 100% for boycotting BP... Now people have completely turned around.
Good to see. I remember me and a few others had the right idea about the situation when it was all first happening, but glad to see everyone else is catching on.

I talked to a guy who retired a few months before the disaster that worked on the rig. BP was pressuring them to get oil faster like any normal company. However when they said they couldn't do it safely they said to just go on ahead. Then it blew the fuck up.
Yeah but they can say no
BP is by no means fully responsible, but they are a bit to blame.
Really though, it's a bit bad to say you're not going to buy gas from them anymore because you're just going to hurt store owners who don't deserve that.
Facts: the demise of BP will cost thousands of jobs world wide, and be a major blow to both Britain's and the US' economy.
I don't necessarily support BP's stupid decision to try and pump oil faster despite the warnings of it being unsafe, but the fact that there are so many people that think boycotting BP is going to solve anything bewilders me.
Their responses on that Facebook page are rather amusing. They don't see that when BP goes bust, leaving thousands of barrels of oil in their ocean, it's them that will suffer for it.
Jacob Ormsby They are a 'shit company' - so whose stupid now. How old are you...7?

William Estrada Brain, here's another fact.....YOUR AN IDIOT....

Brian Easterwood We already payed for it you dumb fuck, they got a tax break.

Latoya Fields Stop talking about yourself!!!!! I swear, duh. I'm rolling my eyes at ....... like this one!!! lol, sad just sad
Funny thing is not one of them has made a constructive reply to what the OP stated.
I go out of my way to fill up at BP stations to help the franchise holder. It isn't their fault.

One guy actually looked up my name on whitepages or something and posted my grandpa's address and phone number. (he's got the same name as me.)
They're like a sad excuse for 4chan or something.

What was the guy's name? Just return the favour to him.

BP approved the plans for the well
BP had direct control over the operations on the well
BP willingly ignored safety issues on the well
BP is bound by international laws to fix the problem
BP has set aside 400 billion dollars to cover the cost of the spill, and has no plans to go bankrupt.
My aunt is a Public Relations Rep for BP. She said she was getting death treats days after the rig sank. It's sad that people are that stupid.
What was the point of this thread? Seriously I don't see one...

I deleted my post, because I'm not going to have my grandpa harassed by a bunch of psychotic morons.

BP as a company has little control as to what happens on their hundreds of rigs. Blaming BP for thte stupidity of the well workers would be like blaming Obama for a postal Marine in Iraq. In the end the bosses on the well make the decisions. And they made the move to keep drilling.
If your boss tells you to take a revolver that has two bullets in it, out of six chambers, point it to your head and pull the trigger, you wouldn't do it.
It's more the worker's fault for not making a fuss about doing something they said afterwards they knew was dangerous.
I hate this more than anything: Ignorant, uninformed people who say their right despite lack of any real facts

Poor BP :ohdear:

And the other 10% are so fucked up on drugs that they take the most irrational side of the argument.

wait what? why? wouldn't it be expensive due to scarcity?
i can understand why it would be cheap... but like yeah
There's really no BP stations around me so I'm good. But if they were to offer low gas prices I would definitely buy from them.

One oil well blowing up doesn't mean there's not hundreds of others.
