Formspring claims another victim: 15 year old Natasha MacBryde of Worcestershire
Worcestershire coroner’s court heard that Natasha MacBryde, a 15-year-old grammar school pupil, had also used the internet to research methods of suicide in the run-up to her death.
Natasha, who had suffered multiple injuries, was found dead by a train driver 150 yards from her home in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, in the early hours of Feb 14 this year.
Speaking after the inquest, Natasha’s parents said they feared that lyrics to one of her favourite songs — Grenade by the American Bruno Mars — may have also encouraged her to take her own life. The song contains the lyrics: “I’d jump in front of a train for ya.”
Det Sgt Shanie Erwin told the inquest that Natasha was known to have received a short anonymous message containing personal abuse via the Formspring networking site on Feb 13.
The message, which was read to the jury by Det Sgt Erwin, derided Natasha for “hiding” behind make-up. It ended: “Start acting nicer to people or you will lose everyone. Mark my words.”
The saddest part imo:
It also emerged during the hearing that Natasha, whose parents had separated, came home from school in tears around two weeks before her death, saying she did not have any friends.
Of course trolls are already making image macros of her in the vein of advice dog
Formspring what do you expect. You're just asking to get insulted. I mean it's anonymous
[editline]1st August 2011[/editline]
Still sad and a lost too, though. Just pointing that out.
How many Cyberbu//y jokes will there be in this thread...
Who joins an website whose sole purpose is to allow people to anonymously make comments about one person and doesn't expect to be insulted?
Not that I mean to imply it isn't a dick thing to do or that she deserved it or anything.

I don't want to seem insensitive for putting this so blunt, but anyone who lets "cyberbullying" affect them has some serious self-esteem problems. "Holy shit somebody is being mean to me on the internet I should kill myself!"

Wow no shit sherlock I had no idea someone with no friends would want to kill themselves after being bullied and hating life.

Fyi I am not Sherlock Holmes. You have incorrectly implied that I am Sherlock Holmes. I can assure you that I am not Sherlock Holmes, and I never will be due to simply not being Sherlock Holmes.
[editline]bitches don't believe me[/editline]
Those who have rated this post dumb obviously do not believe the 100% true fact that I am not Sherlock Holmes.

It all depends on the person and their environment. Sure most people and most posters on Facepunch wouldn't do this, but you never know. Whenever I get a disagree it's not like I want kill myself.
Boxes are another story

This is her.
They're fucking blaming it on her music too :suicide:
God dammit music doesn't drive one to suicide.
Formspring is so stupid. And the people that sign up for that shit is even stupider. I mean really, you are basically encouraging others to bash you. Anonymity is just sad sometimes, it brings out the worst in people.

If music influences people like that, I'm totally fucked
and so is everyone around me
I remember that site. It was a joke. Used to cruise around all the names and started to ask questions anonymously, like "which hole do you like it in?".
I heard the chick in my class mention the question too.

Yup, all this smooth Jazz is making me quite homicidal.
The Bruno Mars bit made me chuckle. They're just looking for anything to blame it on, aren't they?
Anyways it's beyond me why you would want to make a Formspring and let people anonymously taunt you and fuck with you. I've seen a lot of kids post their Formspring's on facebook and the pages are just all full of bullshit, taunting and gossip.
Whenever people get formspring and I see it on their facebook I always shit talk them anonymously.
Who doesn't do that?

That's what's so fun about. I could wager that I caused at least two breakups in my High school because of what I did.
One of the best questions to ask hot chicks was this, "Did you check that you were positive?"
Especially after certain weekends and vacations, you can easily gamble that the chicks probably banged at one point. And these are the hardcore sluts from my school.
I hope this doesn't create an internet policy similar to Cybervbu//y.
I don't want to get charged a large fine just because I told a kid that he sucks at [gamename].

But then for who did she jump in front of a train?

People with hearts
People with hearts
How dare we not ask appropriate questions about other peoples' public lives.
Seriously, if you take heart to anything on that site then you have huge sensitivity issues.
If she was listening to that it means it made her feel better, and to commit a suicide, you need something to push you over the edge. Which is the opposite of something that makes you feel better. :downs:
Even if it was the song that gave her the idea on how to do it, doesn't meant that without it she wouldv'e not found a way, or wouldn't want to commit suicide.
