Windows XP machines that have automatic updates enabled will be sent a pop-up message on March 8 to tell them that Windows XP will lose support on April 8. From the message, XP users will be able to visit the end-of-support website. The message will pop up on the eighth of every month unless users elect to never see it again.
I'm going to lose the support I never used or needed? Oh no :(
Oh yeah, my Dad and I were talking about that a few days ago while he was refurbishing an old laptop for my grandma. The very last update they put out for Windows XP was a program that tells you every day that official XP support will be ending in April. Nothing else was in the update except for that program.
They might as well have a popup that just says "Microsoft thinks you should buy a new computer, or at least a new OS license."
Waiting for a Windows XP user to come complain about how all modern OSes are garbage
I'm going to lose the support I never used or needed? Oh no :(
No more updates. Any security holes will be there forever.
Waiting for a Windows XP user to come complain about how all modern OSes are garbage
All modern OSes are garbage
I'm going to lose the support I never used or needed? Oh no :(
Next time there's a major security breach on the current system as of april, 8, 2014 the system will be compromised for good. If you stay offline it shouldn't really be a problem though, I think.
using xp after this date will be very dicey, as its still got a big market share so you bet malware exploits will be everywhere
waiting for mips to come in here and say nothing past windows 95 is worth using
All modern OSes are garbage
you're garbage
you're garbage
You talking shit mate?
that was last year
nope just checked. It wasn't the patches and shit getting extended :v: http://www.techtimes.com/articles/2796/20140120/windows-xp-security-essentials-support-extended-to-july-2015.htm It was just security essentials being extended
Yeah uh, I'm legit not going to give fifty shits. It's not like the clock will strike 12 and XP machines will suddenly no longer boot.
It's not like the clock will strike 12 and XP machines will suddenly no longer boot.
Microsoft should do that
Yeah uh, I'm legit not going to give fifty shits. It's not like the clock will strike 12 and XP machines will suddenly no longer boot.
How hard is it to be normal and upgrade like everyone else?
How hard is it to be normal and upgrade like everyone else?
especially considering that 7, 8, and, hell, vista have all been less than 20 dollars on probably 50 different occasions in the last decade.
