Children as young as 11 years old are writing malicious computer code to hack accounts on gaming sites and social networks, experts have said.
A report from antivirus company AVG detailed evidence of programs written to "steal" virtual currency.
In one case, researchers were able to reverse-engineer "amateur" code to reveal data about the identity of one child in Canada.
The company said children must be educated on coding "rights and wrongs".
"As more schools are educating people for programming in this early stage, before they are adults and understand the impact of what they're doing, this will continue to grow." said Yuval Ben-Itzhak, chief technology officer at AVG.
The researchers found that many instances of malware targeting games popular with children shared the same characteristics.
Most were written using basic coding languages such as Visual Basic and C#, and were written in a way that contain quite literal schoolboy errors that professional hackers were unlikely to make - many exposing the original source
of the code.

Only AVG would make this newsworthy. But it's still not. I wonder why they just now decide to report on it.

They really think those script kiddies are coding the hacks themselves?
These must be some pretty advanced hacks if they're written in visual basic guys.
Oh no, look out, a kid with a basic knowledge of a coding language could steal your Runescape account, better overreact and get the news involved.

That's called keylogger whaling. It's really, really easy. Examples: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1166226

Oh god, I remember that thread. It's fucking great, give it a read.
what are we gonna have fucking programming control that works the same way as gun control?

AVG are pro researchers, you better watch out!

They are talking about those "Enter Paypal address to get money" type programs. They aren't exactly hacks.

Yet most of them don't even code those. They either copy VB from a youtube video, use Project Neptune, or use Unknown Logger.
I remember when I was 11 I hacked my friends all the time.
I brought 3 keyboards and a laptop to school once so I could hack everybody even faster.

I've create GUI interface using visual basic to track the gamers IPs addresses b4.

It's really easy, and really fun.

We need to get another thread like that started.

I really want to, but I keep finding ones that aren't .NET in the first place, or want you to fill out surveys.

And I HATE fucking survey download sites.

Which is why you never use anything less than a proxy (tor is better when it's not so painfully slow) and don't associate any information from anywhere else with your whaling.

Technically we could still use that old thread (there was another keylogger reversing thread that wasn't that one, but it was even older, IIRC), but it'd be best to have an OP with tools and tips.

Sadly, that's probably completely the fault of people taking the .NET ones down so well. You can still take those down if they're poorly made, but it's a ton more effort to do. The surveys are just total scams (I presume, since I've never filled one out).
Pretty much the easiest way is to search with:
runescape hack +mediafire -fileups -x.co -sharecash -cod -mw3
and order by upload date
It always amuses me how grown men in their 40's and 50's consider skiddies far more dangerous while we in our late teens and early 20's who deal with them on almost a weekly basis on shit like gmod servers and facebook consider them an annoyance.

click my title
programming might as well be magic to me so whenever there's a hint of something going wrong with my computer i throw rose petals on the ground and loudly chant a prayer
wish i was that smart

Script kiddies alright.
I think the most I did as a kinda was abuse simple .vbs scripts and netsend, I never really played with hacks and stuff ever. I think I tried an aimbot once back in CSS for a day just to see how they operated because I was an admin on a server and was having a hard time working out who was botting.
I frequent a game reverse engineering / cheating forum, I have met many script kiddies that can barely speak English. The worst part is they think copy pasting helps them learn.

Calm down, it's one of the least overused and brain offending memes out there.
what
I wouldn't consider a language advanced unless you're interfacing with the processor directly, both C# and VB use .NET.
