Hey You! Yeah you! Remember that Spider-Man show in the 90s that aired on fox, you know, that was animated and all? And it ran about 5 seasons? Remember that? Well guess what, this is something different!
I'm talking about:

This was probably one of the most bizarre incarnations of Spider-Man ever. Why you ask? Well, let me tell you more about the show itself.
From wikipedia (edited where misinformative along with more proper explanation)
While covering the launch of John Jameson's one man mission to a Counter-Earth (another Earth in an alternate universe, accessible through a wormhole or something), Spider-Man attempts to stop his two symbiote adversaries Venom and Carnage from boarding the shuttlecraft. Blamed for Jameson losing contact with our Earth, Spider-Man becomes a target of persecution by the media and the public. Believed to be dead after saving a person's life in a fire, Peter Parker uses the ruse to embark on a mission to retrieve John Jameson on Counter-Earth, designing a new suit using nanotechnology. Making his way to the planet, Spider-Man learns that Jameson has fallen in with a band of freedom fighters opposed to the High Evolutionary, a being from another universe, whose Beastials, hybrids of animal and humanoid attributes, are the dominant species whilst humans are the second-class minority.
With Jameson reluctant to return until all of the Beastials are defeated, Spider-Man elects to remain on Counter-Earth, blending in as best as he can as Peter Parker, and fighting the High Evolutionary and his Knights of Wundagore alongside the rebels as Spider-Man. It soon becomes clear that Venom and Carnage are on Counter-Earth too. This series also shows the animated version of John Jameson's Man-Wolf form, as well as superhero versions of mainstream villains the Green Goblin and the Vulture.
Still not seeing the strangeness of this? Let's look closer at the characters.

Peter Parker / Spider-Man(They're the same person damnit)
Voiced by Rino Romano, who also voiced Spider-Man in the Spider-man games on the Playstation 2 and PC (before the movies)
If you are unfamiliar with the basic story of Spider-Man, basically, Peter got bit by a radioactive Spider, he got powers, took up wrestling and shit, Uncle got shot, decided to be a hero, then became Spider-Man. Most of Spider-Man's man story in this is mentioned in the synopsis above, but you wanna know more about him in this series, don't you? Well, he designs a fairly neat and more useful costume. It's nanotechnology so he doesn't have to switch clothes all the time, he just presses a button and almost like his symbiote outfit in the 1994 series, he just comes on. It has stealth features, sonic shit to back off his symbiote enemies, and, most importantly, it has a CAPE. He is the biggest wise-cracker ever in this series, which I find enjoyable, despite the erm, odd premise.

John Jameson
Voiced by John Payne II
This is the little faggot who started everything. He went into space, got to counter earth, and decided to help the resistance and shit, then when Spidey comes to get his ass out of there, he refuses. He wants to stay to help the people. Goddamn prick. He's supposed to be the big macho man guy who wins all the ladies hearts... until Spider-Man comes along because Spider-man has a stronger chick magnet than this faggot. He was experimented on or some shit when he arrived at Counter-Earth, so he becomes man wolf later in the series cause he forgot to take his pills or something. This happened in the comics too from what I understand, so they didn't just randomly make shit up here... sort of.

Naoko Yamada-Jones and Shayne Yamada-Jones
Naoko is voiced by Akiko Morrison
Shayne is voiced by Rhys Huber
Naoko happens to be the most randomly named character I've ever seen, and she doesn't really sound foreign at all, at least I don't think so, so her long ass name makes no sense. She's a doctor on Counter Earth whom Spider-Ma- Erm, I mean Peter Parker lives with. She makes for a bitchy landlord. She had a husband, but he left her some reason that I forget, I think because his experiments were getting in the way of things and he needed to leave her to work on them more. That leaves her son, Shane, without a father. So Peter becomes the kid's father almost. It seems like in the series that Peter should be romancing her or something, but in his normal reality he is married. This raises many questions.

The Green Goblin
Voiced by Rino Romano... again.
Yeah, in this series, the Goblin is a HERO. Isn't that strange? Well, he is. He's kinda a hero like Spider-Man but moreso just a bounty hunter. In the series he seems to be the former husband of Naoko, but it was never confirmed and probably never will be. He also has a weird accent that doesn't really fit with him. My avatar happens to be a face he made in the series randomly one time that I found hilarious.
There are more resistance people but I can't get good pictures on them and it would just clutter this OP. Let's get to the villains.

Venom and Carnage
Venom is voiced by Brian Drummond
Carnage is voiced by Michael Donovan.
These two are also the reason that this mess got started in the first place. They are trying to get everyone in the whole counter earth infected with a symbiote, making them the dominant species. They probably switched to Counter Earth cuz they couldn't do shit on normal earth, what with everyone knowing about them. Venom looks how you normally expect him but Carnage is completely fucked up beyond all belief. It has to be the worst incarnation of Carnage ever made, or at least from what I have seen.

The High Evolutionary and his band of human hating faggots (Excluding 2 because those 2 actually have, you know, an interesting personality)
These three are your typical villains. One is evil ruler of the Earth, the other two are his human hating lackeys (Which is odd considering the High Evolutionary IS a human.) Basically, the High Evolutionary guy came to Counter Earth to find it was war ridden and shit, and this made him fed up with humans. He made a race of furry-esque type people to rule the world, leaving humans on the bottom floor. Sir Ram (creative name) is a goat dude who hates humans, and the teddy bear bitch who's named Lady Aursal makes you hate teddy bears and is a human hating bitch. Moving along.

Lady Vermin and Lord Tyger
These 2 are actually somewhat interesting. Tyger, unlike his colleagues, somewhat does not believe humans deserve their fate, and does not condone with human cruelty. He helps the humans at the end of the series, but doesn't do an awful lot before. Now Lady Vermin is a villain of course, but she has a rat hardon for Spider-Man, which repulses him. He does on occasion, however, have to play along with this romance she believes exist between them.
So, now that you have a good synopsis on the show, and know the characters, you have to see how strange it is.
This was actually made by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee, who made the original Spider-Man comic. I imagine that they made this idea the way they'd name a normal comic book plotline. Issue is that it doesn't work quite as well on TV. The series only lasted one season, and it ended on a cliffhanger way to big to end a show like this.
Now, the show is being rerun on Jetix currently, but you can see all 13 episodes on Marvel's website. Was it a bad show? No, just really weird. If you don't enjoy absurdity, I don't recommend watching it, but if you don't mind shit being weird, you might enjoy it.

I slightly remember this.
I remember watching this. I thought it was mildly odd, but being the spidey fan kid I was, I watched it anyway.

I just filled in the blanks with the ending, symbiote spores flying all over the world? Everyone's dead.
Sad ending.
I saw an episode years ago, Spider-man was fighting that animal-hunter guy who wears fur and leopard print.
I didn't know the story, I thought it was Spider-man set in the future.
I never really watched this. I thought it was way too weird, even for Spider-man.
Wasn't this like, Massively low rated compared to Spider Man The Animated Series?
Wasn't this like, Massively low rated compared to Spider Man The Animated Series?
Yeah, it was.
Which is why it lasted ONE season.

You saw Kraven then.
Even though they didn't use his actual name in the show for some reason, they just called him "The hunter".
i like spectacular
This was a sequel to the 1994 series Spiderman series which ended with Spiderman going to another universe to find Mary-Jane. That series was much better as it has a better intro and everything.

Internal fox-ness. The head of childrens department fucking hated Avi Arad and tried to push him out of business.
Unfortunately in doing so(the PMSing bitch she was) she lost the highest rated childrens show they had.
Sorry for bump but I don't know where else to post this.
As some of you may know, Marvel is working on another Spider-Man animated series. This new one is based on the Ultimate comics. Here's some footage that was shown at this year's D23.
