I didn't even know that Zack Synder quoted Frank Miller when announcing this. That actually has me worried now.
-snip-
I'm completely losing faith in comic book adaptations in general.
Captain America, Thor etc. felt a bit rushed so that The Avengers could be this great stand out film. It was good, but at the rate it's going we're going to see a huge decline soon.
This has the potential to be the Batman and Robin for this generation.
No... no... That's not true... THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!
You can't do a superman/batman story without having them fight, and you can't have them fight without batman being the person you root for. He's the underdog, despite the fact that he ALWAYS wins (except in red son where wonderwoman was the one to save supes), and as such if it's any other way it feels like superman is merely squashing someone who is weaker than he is. He is not Lex Luthor, he is not evil and is trying to make the world a better place.

Convince me. Sure there needs to be some animosity but I'm unconvinced that there needs to be a fight.
What's with everyone wanting Christian Bale as Batman? He was good but using him again would feel weird. Nolan's Batman's universe feel like it's own thing. I think someone else should be given the chance. I also don't want the voice to return.
Where's the trigger?!

It makes it seem like they never seen Batman anywhere but in Nolan's films. Then they act like Batman isn't gritty outside of the Nolan films. I don't think they realize the potential that the Nolanverse would never be able to achieve. I feel like somehow the people in charge might cave so until we get more info my ass is clinched.

Well an introductory one anyway. They're two diametrically opposed characters. One defends his through example and is revered by all, keeping the rate of crime down through honest and flashy work and keeping himself visible as a preventative measure. The other is a shadowy hunter that rules the night through fear. His work is often done in secret and is made with the express reason that it's a dirty job but someone has to do it. He wants nobody following or imitating him.
The meeting of the two would obviously be contentious, and if a director were to waste that tension and not have them fight they're either a genius or crazy. Zack Snyder is not a genius.

The Wayne Industry logo from the Dark Knight movies appears in Man of Steel.
I'm more worried about Snyder writing the story than anything right now.
With a good superman story you don't need him to fight, you need him to inspire and push the limits of one's own character to do more then one which feels helpless or lazy.
To me the dark night returns it isn't a superman story it's both a batman story and an opposing coin story.
