Principal photography on the $36 million Ip Man 3 commences today (March 25) in Shanghai, China, reuniting the team that made the first two Ip Man films: producer Raymond Wong, director Wilson Yip and writer Edmond Wong. "Two years ago Mike Tyson opened up a Weibo [the Chinese microblogging site] account and the first question he asked was, 'Who is the best fighter in China?'" Pegasus chairman and Ip Man 3 producer Raymond Wong told THR. "Someone answered him 'Donnie Yen,' and that gave me an idea. For the third installment in the Ip Man series, we want to have an explosive fight, and Mike Tyson versus Donnie Yen fits the bill."
I wonder what mystery he's going to be solving.
I saw The Legend is Born: Ip Man (2010) and it was really good, never could watch the other ones on netflix because it doesn't have english audio tbh I should suck it up and watch it anyways.

All the action is still there though so its awesome.
can confirm
I watched Ip Man on Netflix with subtitles one day, and it was pretty damn awesome. Not sure how this one's gonna go over though, it sounds a bit sellout-y.

All the Ip Man movies on Netflix have different actors. Ip Man 1 and 2 are the ones with Donnie Yen and hands down the very best of the Ip Man movies.
I wonder how more boxing will fit in the story.
I watched Ip man 1 and 2 on Netflix and loved the shit out of both. Absolutely delighted to hear there's a third film.
Ip Man is a must watch if you're a fan of kung fu movies. Story-wise they're okay, but the fight scenes are amazing. This is my personal favourite fight scene of all time.

My jaw hit the floor quite audibly during this scene. So badass.
I expect this live-action adaptation of Mike Tyson Mysteries to be batshit crazy as the Scooby-Doo version.
'oh ok this is cool wait a fucking second is that weird al'
Isn't a black boxer going to be a little bit out of place in a chinese kung fu movie?
They're good movies, but they're borderline propaganda, the first one is seriously anti japanese, the second one is a giant fuck you to the british. Not to mention that the real Ip Man was a police officer, and in the first movie he gives shit to the cop supporting character. Still, the fight scenes are fucking amazing. Can't wait.
Isn't a black boxer going to be a little bit out of place in a chinese kung fu movie?
Not as much as you'd think. IP man is set within WW2 range so fighting mike tyson(or whoever he's going to be playing) is not entirely impossible. Check 'em out, well worth it.
had to look up the last Ip man movie I saw http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ip_Man:_The_Final_Fight guess that wasn't the real 3rd movie.
I loved Ip Man I and II, is the final fight worth watching?
I loved Ip Man I and II, is the final fight worth watching?
If you like Ip man bias-ly then yes, but it's slower paced and more down to earth.
I expect this live-action adaptation of Mike Tyson Mysteries to be batshit crazy as the Scooby-Doo version.
i have never been caught more off-guard i dont know what i was expecting but to hear the entire scooby doo gang go "WEIRD ALLLLL?!?!" was not at all close
All the Ip Man movies that aren't 1 and 2 are knockoffs (though some of them aren't too bad). Wait until 3.
FIGHT OR FLIGHT COMING THROUGH
I loved the 1st and 2nd iteration of IP Man, but tbh, IP Man 3 would suck, with Mike Tyson in it. IPman 3 would still be awesome, just not with Mike Tyson, how about Michal Jai White or someone closer to their region, Tony Jaa. Just imagine a clash between the Chinese wing chun vs Thai kick-boxing, now that's what I call "explosive", not some old boxer cameo.
I'm pretty sure Ip Man never met Mike Tyson but okay, I'll go with it. For those who don't know, Ip Man was an actual Kung Fu Grandmaster in Hong Kong.
