"When Evolve launched, the reception wasn’t what we expected. Sure, there were some good reviews. There were also bad reviews. Yes, there was excitement. There was also disappointment – for players and for us. The DLC shitstorm hit full force and washed away people’s enthusiasm, dragging us further and further from that first magical pick-up-and-play experience.
"We want that magic back and we aim to make it happen. We’ve made a lot of changes, improvements and additions to Evolve over the past year and we’ve got a lot more coming. In short, we’re giving this game a vigorous overhaul!"
You only get one launch
Hopefully they make it right though. I hope they can learn from it too.
While I'm sure this will help build its playerbase initially, I don't see this lasting long. F2P has almost become a curse word as of late unless you're a MOBA, and if the grind is too much, I see nothing but complaints coming the game's way.
I just hope that Evolve and Battleborn get the message across to 2K that pushing assloads of DLCs does not help the game and actually makes people less confident in the game overall. But it's 2K, so I doubt they even care.
Also, how long do you think it'll take Battleborn to go F2P? I'd wager by the end of the year at the latest.

Free to play has always been a curse word as far as multiplayer games though
that implies all the children and hackers'll be roaming free and the game might be P2W
Evolve's considerable cast of characters and cosmetics will be unlockable using an in-game currency called Silver Keys, earned by playing. There's no mention yet of whether you'll be able to pay cash
Most likely no mention as its almost certain you will be able to unlock stuff with cash. That is usually how it goes when a game goes f2p because unless they constantly crank out new cosmetics people eventually stop spending cash on them.

Don't place the blame on the developer but the producer that doesn't understand how to market a game properly. 2k is all at fault for this shit that happened to Evolve.
I'm downloading this now. At least want to try and see if it's still bad. The game is pretty fucking big, though. 50 GB.

While 2K completely deserves getting shit on for overhyping the game, slapping a shit price tag on it and then smearing DLCs all over it, the devs are also at fault. Maybe not on a scale as major as what 2K did but TRS also had a tendency to take forever to fix even game-breaking bugs (maybe a month minimum or something about that), IIRC one of them being bodies falling through the ground preventing lazarus to resurrect them and another was being eaten by a plant just as a respawn wave happened, causing you to respawn immediately after dying and taking damage constantly until you died again.
Just finished my first game. I played as the monster (Meteor Goliath), and it was pretty fun. Yes, you do have to buy things like monsters with currency, but what from I've seen, you get the currency pretty easily. Maybe that's because I just started playing and they want it to be that way? Anyways, you get like 1500 currency (I don't know what it's called) for free at the start and I think the monsters cost about 5000 to 6000 something or so. I don't really rememeber, I just played 1 game and came to post here. I got like 250 or 300 for my first game. I'd recommend trying it if you haven't already.
I ain't spending shit on this game, but it's fun, and not too bad. The way they make you pay for monsters and such is no different from something like League of Legends. I'd hate to have paid for this game, though.
Whenever I search for a game it says "player found" for the remaining 4 slots and still says "searching" in the center of the screen. What the fuck?

Same thing happens with me. When it finds all of the other players, I click the back button down bottom, enter the queue for Hunt again, and it works properly.
