I'm looking to purchase a fixed blade knife. I want it to be about 4-5 inches long (can be a little longer) and have a nice thick blade. Should be from a reputable brand and be under $50 because I'm poor. And preferably not a bowie style. Thanks guys.
Why do you not want a Bowie style?
Why do you not want a Bowie style?
I just don't like the look of it and it has a weak tip
I just don't like the look of it and it has a weak tip
Looks don't matter, and even if it did have a weak tip, a weak tip won't matter because you won't be using it for self defense anyways, as you probably don't have a concealed carry licence. Personally I think they look smexy.

SOG makes some nice knifes. I own a seal pup knife from them, however i mainly use it for camping and outdoor activity.
Hahaha. Maybe you should read the original post. Fixed blade. Under $50. About 4-5 inches.
Personally I have a Ka-Bar and I love it. Keep it in my car. But then again you said you dont like bowie style knifes. I also have a really interesting knife i got from guatamala about 4 years ago. Its got a great grip not too big or too small. It has a nice hilt on it. Then again you can not go wrong with a gerber knife. those are issued to troops. Then again my favorite knife just for its sheer beauty is definatly the stiletto. @ G12-A5 I like that gerber but it's a little expensive and i want a non serrated blade.

If it is not you will be greatly dissappointed because more than likely after time the blade will simply just fall off.
Elk Ridge has some pretty good knives.

I take after my father lol.
If you're poor, then save your money. But if you must, get a Ka-Bar. http://www.amazon.com/Ka-Bar-2-1212-3-Black-Fighting-Knife/dp/B000BSY9D0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1263788173&sr=8-2
Would anyone here happen to know if the Gerber Big Rock Camp knife has removable scales? I'm thinking if I get it I'll make some micarta grips for it. :p
Ka-Bar D2, take the awesomeness of a Ka-Bar and add D2 steel and you've got an awesome weapon/utility knife.
Lol sorry. I've been looking for a good knife all night. I just need suggestions on things on topic rather than some joke. Care to offer some suggestions?
depends, are you looking for a tactical knife or more like a vintage knife personaly i like to collect folders, so i wouldent be much of a help but my friend has a nice smith and wesson serch and rescue series blade http://www.homeland-defense4u.com/images/smith%20%20wesson%20knives.gif the middle one
I'd suggest the Ka-bar, it's a reputable brand, and quality-wise, it delivers. However, the price may be around $60.
