UK support for the EU is balanced on a knife edge with half the population ready to vote for leaving the EU tomorrow and far fewer people identifying the country as European, according to a new survey published yesterday (2 December).
The report – produced by Opinium Research – polled respondents across France, Germany and Poland and the UK, revealing that Germans were twice as likely (86%) as their British counterparts (40%) to consider that their country was European. 50% of UK citizens would vote to leave the EU in a referendum held tomorrow, with 36% voting to stay. UK voters are also more likely to say the economy would be better (41%), rather than worse (22%), after an exit from the EU, with 29% of people stating that an exit would have a positive impact on their personal standard of living, whilst 15% thought it would have a negative one.
The findings revealed clear divisions of opinion between Conservative and Labour parties' voters, and between the business community and consumers.
Well fuck off then, we never wanted you anyways :'(
Don't worry UK, we'll tow line you to the United States, and everything will be better. You were always our Aircraft Carrier anyway!
So why does the UK people want to leave EU.
Edit:
A European Commission study of the single market in 2007 found that the EU GDP was raised by 2.2 per cent (€233 billion) and 2.75 million jobs were created between the introduction of the single market in 1992 and 2006. For the UK, that increase in GDP would have been around £25 billion. The Government’s Department of Business, Innovation & Skills estimates that EU Member States trade twice as much with each other as a result of the single market – which they estimate has meant that increased trade within the EU since the 1980s could have been worth around six per cent higher income per capita in the UK. Exports to other EU countries account for 51 per cent of the UK’s exports of goods and services, worth £200 billion; trade with the US, by contrast, constitutes 13 per cent of UK exports.
I don't understand economics, but that seems to be a nice benefit of being in the EU economic zone.
I remember reading an article about polls done in some European countries about the UK leaving the EU pretty much nobody gave a fuck if they left or not. Can't be arsed to search for it, but yeah.
So why does the UK people want to leave EU.
The same reason people vote PVV in the Netherlands. They have no idea what the EU does for them and all they hear is "our money's going there and we get nothing but immigrants back", which just isn't true but no one's telling them that.
How the hell would the economy be better for leaving the EU
these people are morons

basically to anyone who has ever done politics, economics or even briefly glanced at what the EU does, they understand the amount of income it gives in trade and other benefits massively outweighs the pittance given to it.
aka only complete idiots who have never studied the EU want to leave it
or morons who think that immigrants are stealing their jobs or "t-the man in brussels wants to ban my bendy bananas"

aka most ordinary people who feel like 'they be taking me joobs'.
aka the most significant voting group in most countries.
Well of course not, they're English as a muffin.

What's your on the Scottish referendum vote?

aka the people who absolutely should not be dictating policy regarding anything
if the majority of people in this country had a say on its running, we'd be using polish people as slave miners
I always found it odd how people here referred to the mainland like some distant Other.
with 29% of people stating that an exit would have a positive impact on their personal standard of living
I wonder how many people out of that 29% are basically just thinking "yeah my life'll be great since those fucking Polish'll piss off!"
What's your on the Scottish referendum vote?
Conflicted. On one hand separating is exactly the opposite of what I believe in, on the other hand they'll be staying in the EU and they already have a different currency than the rest of the UK so I welcome them.
They use the pound.
I think we should just make it illegal for politicians to lie, that way voters can make an honest choice instead of choose for whoever paints the nicest picture over the horseshit they're selling.

You're probably thinking of Ireland.
most people in the UK who want to leave the EU are these mental fundamentalist conservatives who preach naked in the streets of london about us selling ourselves out to the EU and that parliamentary sovereignty is dead
You're probably thinking of Ireland.
Which isn't a part of the UK is it? Oh wow, sorry.
Fine, leave then! Not like we need you or anything >:(
Please don't leave :(
Don't forget the good times UK, remember the good times.
B-but I want to be part of the EU, I still think it's fantastic.
B-but I want to be part of the EU, I still think it's fantastic.
Move to Scotland.
You forget as well, we don't know how much control of certain things we relinquish by doing this. I am not versed with the ins-and-outs but it's not all about the immigration. Frankly I'm glad the culture is getting a mix up, we are a more modern society now and clinging on to nostalgic culture value is disappointing if you ask me.
What me, and most people from UK want to know how does this affect us, apart from the immigration. Can anybody inform?
Move to Scotland.
I like living in England, and I want to be part of the EU.
What now?!!?!

deal with it
Kill your prime minister.
this might suffice
but the true britains all died when the romans invaded, followed by the saxons and the angles and later the jutes invaded, followed by a century of dutch and french occupation
Kill your prime minister.
I think we'd need to go Guy Fawkes and just vapourise parliament.
They just want to be able to become the 51st state of America, what's so wrong with that?
I'm still pissed the EU banned light bulbs.
