• Shep Smith on Trump: ‘too much lying and too much Russia and too much smoke’
On his own island resides Fox News host Shepard Smith, who anchors the 3 p.m. hour from his space-age news deck. Since the beginning of the year, Smith has ripped Trump for attempting to delegitimize CNN and for complaining about media non-coverage of certain unspecified terror attacks. Then came today. Smith saw fit to cover the story of former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s Justice Department filing disclosing that he’d done $530,000 of lobbying work during the 2016 campaign that “may have aided the Turkish government,” according to an Associated Press scoop. Flynn was fired from the Trump administration after misleading Vice President Pence about his contacts with the Russian ambassador to the United States before the inauguration.

"Julie, the White House says, ‘Ah, he was a private citizen at the time.’ But there’s been a lot of lying, Julie. And — there’s been a lot of lying, there’s been lying about who you talk to, and by lots of people and almost inevitably and invariably, they were lying about talking to the Russians, about something. It’s too much lying and too much Russia and too much smoke. And now they’re investigating. Where are we in this thing?" From the looks of things, Smith doesn’t share the qualms of other news outlets with respect to the appropriateness of a certain inflammatory one-syllable English word.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wemple/wp/2017/03/09/fox-newss-shep-smith-its-too-much-lying-and-too-much-russia-and-too-much-smoke/?utm_term=.0004a7f16b58
So there is someone with a spine at Fox. To bad he's the only one.
Lots of Conservatives were very angry with Shep Smith for daring to claim that the President should be held accountable for lying, calling him a 'liberal cuck' and saying he should be on MSNBC.
Having integrity kinda goes against the Republican creed.
I often wonder how objective I'm being about my own positions. Whether the conservative ideology I see in the news and from people I argue with is just scraping the bottom of the barrel, whether I'm only exposed to the most idiotic examples and so I'm getting the wrong idea of Conservatism as a whole. But even at its most pseudointellectual, the whole 'personal responsibility' ideal behind conservatism is based on a flawed premise, more feelings than statistically supported fact, and ultimately simply doesn't work in Western countries, especially those as corrupt as the USA. Meritocracy is a myth, and people often misattribute to hard work what they owe at least partially to luck. After all, many poor people work far, far harder, and never really make their fortunes, do they? But the face of Conservatism I see the most isn't the semi-intellectual, ideologically-driven arguments, it's this. This complete lack of integrity and intellectual honesty, this ugly self-righteous hypocrisy. I would like to be wrong about dismissing large parts of the ideology as stupidity, but I've yet to be convinced.

However, I feel that the older conservative ideals like this are a thing of the past.
the mention of Flynn lying to Pence reminded me of a thought I had a few days ago Pence really has been lying low, hasn't he? Over the past few months, it's been all Trump, Flynn, DeVos, Carson, Sessions, that little goblin Bannon, almost all of Trump's cabinet and close workers in the news for dumb shit and shenanigans that they've been getting into. Yet Pence, the vice president, hasn't really been making news since the election. I understand why, but I just found it a bit funny. It might be a bit off-topic, but I was just reminded of it by the article.
I feel bad for conservatives like shep smith. I may disagree with on quite a few things, but it must suck to watch what you believe in be perverted by populism

Laying low and keeping his mouth shut would be a smart move at this point.
The problem is that retarded conservatives are the face of the Republican Party.
The gop and fox news riled up their supporters with bias and fear. I recall around the time McCain was running for president how they started this as a strategy against the Democrats, but it was going out of control. Yet they continued, and it swelled up to the point where control really was lost, sites like brietbart took rise and we ended up with trump now as president, with others pointing at fox news hosts for being "too liberal" As much as it sucks, we cant say it was chance that this happened. It happened because we allowed ourselves to become polarized, first with places like fox, but now I also see more liberal sites doing the same thing.

Like you said, its never by chance and the way I see it nowadays, just an evolution of televised news. One shit-show becomes king over the other shit-show.
Probably more than just worried about sheer embarrassment, Pence is thinking about the long-term and future office holding. Laying low and keeping his mouth shut would be a smart move at this point.
Indeed. If he is aware of all that has happened, the safest bet would be to shut up and stay out of the news because people likely won't look in to you as much or care as much. Then when the dust settles, if Trump is impeached, Pence can step in relatively clean and not have people reloading and taking aim at him. If he put himself on display like the rest of the presidential shit show, he'd be taking the job with possibility it'd only be for a short period of time as well.
too bad at fox the news stops at 6 pm and doesnt start up again till 3pm
