A toddler has died after he and his mother were hit by an SUV outside a liquor store in Pitt Meadows early Friday morning.
http://www.theprovince.com/news/dies+after+outside+Pitt+Meadows+mall+liquor+store/9201114/story.html I was in an EBgames nearby with a friend when it happened. We didn't see the initial crash, but as we were heading to our car my friend and I heard the mother screaming. We helped lift the car off the kid (along with ~15 other people). A few minutes later EMTs and cops arrived, so we left (our work day was starting in 30 minutes, not that we made it very far without being sent home). I don't usually start threads here, but I lurk Sensationalist Headlines all the time. I just had to tell someone, even if it's Facepunch. I had no idea how much sympathy I could have for a stranger before today.
You're fucking amazing. y' know helping someone amazing.
You did what you could, brah. It's probably pretty fucked up to witness something like that.
The fact that you went over to help tells me a lot about what kind of person you are, a good one. Good on you, and all the others, for not falling into the bystander effect and actually helping. It's still a tragedy, but at least it's not because of inaction.
Thanks, spazthemax. You're helping my FP-inflicted cynicism, and probably you're helping those around you too. What you've done here shows a lot about you, and it's good.

It was my friend who insisted on investigating, although neither of us knew anything other than "someone is screaming" at that point. Now I feel like a monster after knowing what the situation was. I hesitated. I want to believe I won't hesitate again if I hear that kind of screaming.

Your body wasn't sure what kind of danger you'd be put in, so it's natural to just carry on.

Courage and Bravery are the will and strength of character to push through fear, not the absence of it. You did a great thing, I am just sorry for how this all turned out.

That's what's important.
Wow, I'm glad people actually helped. Instead of standing at one corner.

Your life is wasted if you die in a bed.
That's really heat warming, but very unfortenate for the kids. That was very heroic of you.

How could you have known?
