[QUOTE]A poll for the walking charity the Ramblers suggests 25% of adults walk for no more than one hour each week. The YouGov survey, which polled 2,000 adults across Britain about walking habits, found another 43% reported walking for less than two hours a week.
Government guidelines suggest people should do 150 minutes of "moderate" physical activity each week.
The survey asked people about the total amount of walking they did, including trips to school, work or the shops. The Ramblers, which is promoting a "Get Walking Week" from 4-11 May, said there was already research showing that two thirds of adults in the UK took too little exercise and the survey backed that up.
The West Midlands was revealed as the worst region for weekly walking, with more than a third of adults (34%) walking for no more than an hour a week while The East Midlands came out top, with 59% of people doing enough to satisfy recommended physical activity guidelines.[/QUOTE]

jokes on them i don't walk at all
keeping my muscles in tip-top shape for when i need them
don't wanna fuck them up by running around all the time
30-60 minutes of exercise a day is beneficial to anyone.
Here I was thinking that a quarter of adults [B]in the whole world[/B] walk an hour per week.
I walk around 2 hours minimum to and from work and also go for walks, I guess I'm good.
A quarter of that quarter is /fit/.
I walk about two or three hours a day, just getting up and moving around. More if I decide to go to the shops or something.
Now, is that dedicated for-exercise walking time, or total walking time including shopping, work, etc?
I walk 3-6 miles (1 lap or 2, I try to do 2) a day at fast pace for exercise, weather permitting. It used to be a day or two a week but I really ramped it up to every day for the past two months. I don't know if I'm losing weight, but it really helps your stamina and makes you feel healthier. Plus it's easy.
I walk 4 miles working and 1.2 miles for school every weekday. Don't do shit on weekends though.

Walking is actually a good way of burning calouries - basic physics dictate that a specific distance will take x amount of energy to travel, whether you're running or not. Of course there's a difference is efficiency, and you most probably use quite a bit more energy by running, but overall walking is still a good way to keep down your weight.
You shouldn't use walking as a way to strengthen your muscles or improve your blood circulation, though, it won't do much good.
I walk 0.32 miles to the shop everyday to buy lots of food and eat it. I am healthy
Being in college means lots and lots of walking every single day
I walk nearly four miles every weekend, but I usually only do it when I'm stoned, does the exercise still count?

cba, used to walk all the time when @ college but these days I'm to tired, would rather mong out in front of pc / tv
I walk a lot to and from work, which also involves a lot of walking.
How the hell do you walk so little? I basically do nothing except go to my university classes every day and I probably walk about an hour a day.

Make sure you [b]burn[/b] that fat.
Sometimes I walk from my chair to the fridge

Surely they'd be lifting weights more than walking.
I walk to the bar every day and back. That's 1.8 miles
live 4 ever
The next fastfood shop is 6m from my flats door.
[editline]6th May 2013[/editline]
I never eat there.
I stand all day at work and run around the retail store. My parents are nurses so they also run around healthcare agencies all day and night.
I'm not surprised though for some jobs you are less mobile than most
Haha eat it nerdwads I do cardio practically every day, I'll never be part of that quarter!
[sub][sub][sub]30 pounds to go before healthy weight ;-;[/sub][/sub][/sub]
My goddamn work-trips make me walk an hour a day. And I use a bus in the middle too. Great bus connections, I must say. Though, they plan on improving them next year, so no more exercise for me! Yay! Besides gym etc.
I walk 10-15km a day on top of what I walk to just get around (which isn't much).
Oh god this is turning into one of those Speedtest threads but with walking, isn't it?
I've been a lazy sack of crap for the last few months. Started walking again and to my surprise my shins got sore, so I'll probably just start walking more on principle.
It's just a well as transit prices are getting pretty killer, and gas prices are already really high. Just spending 30-40 minutes walking to the store, to work or to school really isn't that much work and you save money.
I am in highschool so I ain't go time for that shit unless im walking to the next class.
I wish I could walk.
I can only roll, at this point.
