if you're going to be voting for the next president you ought to get to vote for your preferred candidate

There's no quick way to ask for absentee ballots, you have to ask for them every single election, and you have to have the forms in extremely early for the general election while arbitrarily, you only have to have the form in like a day before the primary elections...
And it wasn't always like this, you used to just be able to request ballots through the internet, not snail mail

probably, when i filled out my form last week it was independent/democrat/republican so i assume you get a ballot with a bunch of random names at that point
