A quick demo of the particle effects for X32i. They are still heavily WIP, so please remember that when commenting. The beautiful particle effects are by SirBaron, with a stunning soundtrack by Gareth Coker, our resident composer. The asteroid belt one was awesome.
Awesome, I'm loving how this mod is progressing. I'm going to buy Crysis just for this and MW:LL. I hope you include loads of console screens in that cockpit.

Simply amazing.
Wow, I'm very impressed. I thought your mod died off a little after a demo release a while back due to real life circumstances, so this is some huge progress from what I've seen (you guys even have a fancy logo animation too :P ) Because wow, this has really gotten some amazing progress since I last heard wind of it and you guys even nailed a pretty good sound-track too. The particle effects are very well done as well. I've been learning my way around the particle editor myself. Question though, I assume the asteroids do not have collision being that they are particles? Or is this particular scene only being used for a cutscene? Or something else? The cockpit looks great too for a start, it looks like you are really inside of one.
Thanks for the kind comments, keep the suggestions coming. To KorJax, the particles all have collision models, unlike the source particle editor.
That soundtrack is amazing. That is the sort of music I would pay cash money for. [editline]01:34PM[/editline] I would comment on the effects themselves because they look great but I'm flabberghasted by the music.
The music sells it all
I cummed everywhere
Wow, this is amazing. Nice job you guys.
Thanks for the kind comments, keep the suggestions coming. I wasn't aware you could have particles collide with objects other than doing basic collision where they bounce off or something.
Sorry i was wrong about that, i misinterpreted what i was told. They don't collide atm, but we are hoping to get our hands on the cryengine source code so we can make the mod to our exact needs and specifications.
Ah, I thought they had the SDK available for download though? Or was it still restricted? In any case it looks (and sounds!) very nice, a lot different from the first vids I saw of the mod. Some advice is that incase you can't get the asteroids to do what you wish for a particle effect, there's always using something like a basic entity and having it rotate similarly to how they do now in your video via flowgraph. Of course you can't use too many of them, I've found out for instance having a enough giant entities rotating, it can slow things down which kind of sucks. Worst case is you could have the smaller rocks just use simple particle efffect collision and look like they do now but have a few larger asteroids have collision and such.
Is that 1080p?
Is that 1080p?
Video'd in 1080, but i think youtube took it down to 720p.
Worst case is you could have the smaller rocks just use simple particle efffect collision and look like they do now but have a few larger asteroids have collision and such.
Yeah the SDK doesn't let us get past certain limitations like draw distance/high altitudes etc, we'll need the engine source code for those. I'm not the guy that created these awesome effects, but from what i understand they are very very WIP, we are just using crysis standard rocks atm. In the future all will be custom models which are dynamically breakable, eg shoot of a corner or chunk.
I didn`t quite like that effect. It looks more like a bunch of space jizz going in a straight line worm hole or not, I would think it`d have a constrain of a force, making it almost like nothing is happening. Hard to describe. D:

Personally I like the streams of blue whatever. The whole effect itself looks so out of place in a dark, brown setting that it invokes concepts of divinity.
As baron said, it's all very WIP.
Thanks for the lovely feedback regarding the music, I'm the composer for X32I. You'll be most welcome to pay money for the music if and when the soundtrack is released! ;p Seriously though, thanks for the support, your words keep us motivated to put out more and more content.
That was pretty awesome and I fucking loved the music. You're a great composer, Gareth.
Why did I uninstall Crysis to install GTA IV? How dumb of me.
Why did I uninstall Crysis to install GTA IV? How dumb of me.
I think you need a bigger hard drive :P.
A lot of that is damn sexy, and Coker is worth every frickin' cent With that effect streaming out of the wormhole, Maybe make it V shaped, where it's concentrated at the center, but fanning out as it extends away from it, other than that, everything looks awesome Or maybe make it more like a Heat Wave effect
I'd pay to play this mod.
That is awesome ! I'd pay too to play this ! Keep us updated !
Don't worry I wouldn't be doing a good job if I didn't keep people updated. :P :D
Let's elope.
This mod might be the only reason I'll re-install Crysis.
