Meant to last a while. C&C welcome, but don't be a dick about anything that wouldn't work. I want serious help, not people costing me $1000. Thanks FP.
PSU is 3x more powerful than is necessary
PSU is 3x more powerful than is necessary
If so, would a 650-700 watt PSU work? Also, thoughts on the GPU, and cooling everything.
why do you need an enterprise hard drive [editline]3rd September 2011[/editline] just get a spinpoint f3 you won't notice the difference
If so, would a 650-700 watt PSU work? Also, thoughts on the GPU, and cooling everything.
500 watts is plenty for a 460, pretty sure a good 400w PSU with 400w on a single 12v rail would work as well, your build's pretty unbalanced. I'll help you out, but try not to be so aggresive:
I want serious help, not people costing me $1000.
also the gpu isn't 200$? it's 130 if you really want to you can add a SSD in there since you're gonna save a lot of money between the spinpoint, the graphics card being less than you thought and downgrading the psu
aim for something along the lines of this, might want to get a cheap SSD as well, and a cooler, and find GOOD combo deals.

Also, advantage/disadvantage between SSD and normal.
~snip~ aim for something along the lines of this, might want to get a cheap SSD as well, and a cooler, and find GOOD combo deals.
Looks good, but I'm wondering about the bare-bone drive and cooling the GPU if it gets to hot. Thanks all.
Why would it get too hot? It's a twin frozr, and MSI make great cards. My Cyclone 460 idles at 30-32 Celsius. I don't get what's wrong with the barebone drive, either. Motherboards always come with at least 2 SATA cables, which is enough for the DVD drive + HDD.

I'm going to debate that set-up with other ones I had in mind, but it looks great. Thanks.
