Reading To Kill a Mockingbird in class Not going to post a synopsis/summary due to spoilers. So what do you guys think of the book? We're reading it in English class and I it is a very good book.
I read that book many years ago. I've always liked it.
I was thinking this thread was about how to kill a mockingbird... Like kill it for i can eat it
[sp]Tom Robinson is convicted because of the racism in the court and is eventually killed trying to escape Mayella Ewell is raped by her dad[/sp]
I don't understand why he ran away.
It's alright in the beginning, but I always thought it was waaaaay overrated, and rather uninteresting.
It's another one of the books schools force teens to read just because it features racism not saying it's a bad book but still [editline]f[/editline] Also, interesting snippet from the production of the movie
Phillip Alford, who played the role of Jem, did not initially want to audition for the part. However, when his mother informed him that he would miss a half day of school, he quickly changed his mind. Additionally, he became upset during the filming of the scene at the breakfast table, when Mary Badham, who played Scout, had trouble performing the scene properly. By way of retaliating, during the scene where Jem rolls Scout in a tire, he intentionally rolled the tire toward an equipment truck
I liked it though
i would've liked the book if i wasn't forced to analyze the shit out of it.
i would've liked the book if i wasn't forced to analyze the shit out of it.
This. Considering the title I was both surprised and disappointed at the lack of mocking bird killing throughout the book considering the title.
I'm reading the same book school, so far it's okay.
I don't understand why he ran away.
Because even if they managed to find him not guilty, if there wasn't enough evidence against her father, the town would have lynched him.
i would've liked the book if i wasn't forced to analyze the shit out of it.
I read it afterwards on my own, it was actually a good read. Reading books at school ruins them. I did this with Cold Mountain as well, which I really liked. Also they never killed the mockingbird :(
This. Considering the title I was both surprised and disappointed at the lack of mocking bird killing throughout the book considering the title.
It's a metaphor you twit Also...the book was great but the movie was meh
The book was really good, I only read it the once though. English lessons sucked but once you've got the formula down for getting marks you can get C's or above without really knowing anything special.
I like Heart of Darkness better.
It's a metaphor you twit Also...the book was great but the movie was meh
It was a joke you twit. Do you have no sense of humor?
I read it by myself probably five years ago. (By myself meaning my own choice.)
I have never read it. I have an English book report coming up. Do you guys really recommend it?
The girl who played Scout in the movie lives in my town, she's in her 60s or something. It's actually not a bad book, but when you're reading it for school or something they make you analyze it which ruins any book.
It's basically about racism. [sp] Also, The Man never actually "Escaped" He was shot on the premesis by white guards for "Escaping", Since they're also racist, and it's unlike his character. [/sp]

I actully less liked all of the trial part of the book.. The other part of Scout's childhood was more fun to read.
I actully less liked all of the trial part of the book.. I hate it when events start happening in most books, actually.....

I enjoyed the book, although the film's easier to watch.
Had to study the book way back when. It's a fun read with some nice characters. And the old black and white flick was fun.
Wasnt a horrible read, but Im not one to read much.
