• Trump meets Romney: President-elect and critic in talks
US President-elect Donald Trump has met one of his fiercest critics, Mitt Romney, with reports suggesting he may be considered for secretary of state. Neither man gave details of their 80-minute meeting on Saturday. Mr Romney said the talks had been "far-reaching". During the campaign, Mr Romney called Mr Trump a "fraud", while Mr Trump said Mr Romney's unsuccessful presidential bid in 2012 had been "the worst ever".
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-38037591
I'd be a lot more comfortable with Romney there, especially in interactions with Russia, but we'll see. One good person can't fix all the other bad people.
though I have my typical political disagreements with him, I feel Romney has much more integrity than many of his fellow Republicans and especially Trump
With any luck this means that Trump is looking for someone he can delegate most foreign affairs work to. In this case anything that makes him less involved on the foreign front the better. I think I'd be more comfortable with Romney using SecState role to manage that than Trump.
Romney for sec of state? He knows french, I guess that could work out.
What were Romney's policies during the 2012 Election? My memory of that one is vague (other than I used to held the position that both Obama and Romney were pretty bad, but that Obama was better because "the devil you know is better than the one you don't" - oh how I have changed so much... and the other thing being that George Hook along with his Republican guest on the election show said "it can't get worse than this" - oh how they were both so wrong!).

I thought Romney was a RINO
I thought Romney was a RINO
He is at least more centrist and sensible than the vast majority of the candidates that emerged from the circus of horrors in the last two elections.
Shhh, he's draining the swamp. Quiet guys
So Romney will be the voice of reason in Trump's cabinet.
How fucked are we that Romney is now what we consider a good person in comparison to Trump and the Trump Cabinet
It's the same kind of people that go "well george bush wasnt even bad at all" simply because they was too young, unaware or simply ignorant to anything he actually has done like illegally starting wars with other countries and shit like the patriot act. We seen it all election. The estashblishment has been holding back the country since the 80s, barely any progress has been made while our consitution and bill of rights were, instead of being protected, was step on while politicans kept trying to push how far they can go. But now Trump adminstration(which is most likely going to be WORST) comes along and now people who know nothing about politics will think the same people that have been ruining this country for decades are good people because trump is so bad in comparision.

So pretty garbage but not as garbage as someone like Dick Cheney or, god forbid, Rick Perry.
Trump calmed Romney down and brought him into the fold after showing how little of the swamp he actually plans on draining. Romney looks like a good fit with the rest of the establishment picks Trump has surrounded himself with, with the bonus of actually having decent experience in an executive position. [editline]19th November 2016[/editline] But yes the fact that we are saying "thank god for Romney" shows just how far we have come from 2012.
I can't wait to see four years from now who is going to make us say "thank god for Trump"
I can't wait to see four years from now who is going to make us say "thank god for Trump"
If I ever utter those words, I'll blow myself. Toxx it.
I can't wait to see four years from now who is going to make us say "thank god for Trump"
Call me optimistic but I feel like both parties will have better options for 2024. The democrats damn well better vote for a more electable candidate in 2020.
Romney was probably brought in because Trump genuinely had no idea what he was doing when he said all the things he promised during his campaign, and Romney was the baseline architect of Obamacare who potentially actually understands it where Trump doesn't.
If I ever utter those words, I'll blow myself. Toxx it.
So shall it be written, so shall it be done. :toxx:
If I ever utter those words, I'll blow myself. Toxx it.
Are you capable of reaching down there?
Are you capable of reaching down there?
Quick, someone start a fundraiser to remove a row of Megadave's ribs. He may actually be able to bend that far if we do.
"Critic" is an interesting way to put a man that publicly declared that he would do everything possible in his power to keep Trump out of office.
Call me optimistic but I feel like both parties will have better options for 2024. Also I would hope for the media to get it's shit together but they don't care as long as they're making money.

The US people should demand more from the person they are to consider electing to the most power office in the country. Or, are you saying compared to Trump? Because that I agree with.
Romney for sec of state? He knows french, I guess that could work out.
If anything we should disavow the French. There is no reason other than "historical friendship" that we have any ties to them at all. While our cultures are parallels of eachother, they're both still awful cultures and I would rather we move away from that. I hate the radical ideology of the right as much as I hate that of the left, and nor do I think partisan politics are helping us.

I feel like the email thing was careless but people seem to give way way more scrutiny to that over any of trump's crazy scandals.
In what dimension do you live in that France is considered "radical left"?
The one where you get all your news from the hard right sources.
In what dimension do you live in that France is considered "radical left"?
What I was trying to say was that they were far right.
