• U.S. troops in Poland as Ukraine crisis persists
A contingent of U.S. Army paratroopers arrived in Poland on Wednesday, the first of what will be a "persistent presence" of U.S. troops as the crisis in nearby Ukraine continues to unfold. The company-sized contingent will conduct training exercises with Polish counterparts and is visiting at the request of Poland. The joint exercises are a symbol of force as the conflict in Ukraine between pro-government and pro-Russian factions continues unabated. The United States and Russia accuse each other of fomenting unrest in Ukraine. The U.S. troops stood in formation at an airfield next to Polish troops as military leaders from both countries addressed them, reiterating the alliance between their nations.
oh shit, it's happening http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/23/world/europe/ukraine-crisis/
"Persistent Rotational Presence"
damnit.
damnit...
At least soldiers won't be getting blown up by IEDs in Poland.
This doesn't bode well.
At least soldiers won't be getting blown up by IEDs in Poland.
That's what Poland wants you to think.
damnit.
It's only one Company on loan from the Army. This wont affect the vast majority of American servicemembers.
It may be one company but they have combat experience and if anything ever happened god forbid they could be dropped into an area quickly. Airborne aren't necessarily like regular infantry often traveling lighter and moving more quickly with less constraints.
That's what Poland wants you to think.
they'll be getting their phones blown up by all the hot polish/slav ladies

The government could try to pull that saying "its for our safety and to stop spreading of intel" and be serious in the moment then the firewalls would stay up after the war oh good lord

Russia and the US better not start another fucking cold war, we all know how the first one went for the rest of the world.
Russia and the US better not start another fucking cold war, we all know how the first one went for the rest of the world.
Nothing happened. That's why it's a cold war.
Russia and the US better not start another fucking cold war, we all know how the first one went for the rest of the world.
Cold wars are terrible for people, but they're great for scientific development!
Cold wars are terrible for people, but they're great for scientific development!
I value not having another cold war over the potential development of military technologies that may or may not have civil applications. [editline]24th April 2014[/editline]
Nothing happened. That's why it's a cold war.
Except for the endless US or Russian backed wars, coups and interventions across nearly all continents.

A lot of our modern conveniences of today come from war time and these sorts of technology booms. One of the earliest examples would be canning and preserving food. Napoleon Bonaparte had canned food invented sheerly to help keep his soldiers as mobile as possible and have a continuous supply of preserved food.

Canning could have just as easier developed organically through another avenue. If the choice is between war and rapid technological progress and peace and normal technological progress you'd be pretty callous to choose the former considering the real material/human cost just for the possibility of technological progress that isn't guaranteed (e: This is assuming that war and techological progress go hand in hand, something I'd be skeptical of)
Russia and the US better not start another fucking cold war, we all know how the first one went for the rest of the world.
Not if you're Western Europe, or a scientist.
Nothing happened. That's why it's a cold war.
I don't know how many fucking times I have to say this: ABOUT 100 PEOPLE DIED MONTHS AGO OVER THIS BULLSHIT. 100 SOULS SNIPED IN THE COLD SNOW WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR SIGNAL. THEY WERE ROLLING ON THE GROUND, TRYING TO AT LEAST FIND THE SOURCE OF THE ROUNDS AS THEY WERE BEING SLAUGHTERED FROM SOME SAFE HAVEN HUNDREDS OF METERS AWAY. NOBODY KNOWS WHICH SIDE ORDERED THESE FAGS. Politics over lives. Wait have you people even gotten that article over there in murica? Wouldn't be surprised if it 'slipped by' all of the major news networks. Cold my ass. The only thing that's cold about this war is the fucking hearts of politicians in Russia and US alike. Fucking fags.
fags fags fags nigger cunt kike dumb americans post quick reply wait for acceptance by fellow non-americans (won't happen dog)

The only thing that's cold about this war is the fucking hearts of politicians in Russia and US alike. Fucking fags.
Reading is a skill you pick up around senior kindergarden. Where were you?
Nothing happened. That's why it's a cold war.
Yeah, you know, except for all the planes shot down, ships sabotaged, spies caught and executed, people tortured and destroyed by both sides for possibly thinking about being related to the other side, and all the myriad of people who were coldly executed trying to get over the Berlin Wall. Learn your fucking history.
RIP US soldiers down the street
Never fear, this is just a field test of our prototype anti-russian railgun mk 2. Do not ask about mark 1. And besides, nothing is happening. Around 150 American soldiers will train with our military and the whole thing is supposed to symbolise our unity in this "conflict" more than anything.
Dangerous.
a world war in the internet age is a very strange thing to think about
I think world war is very strange to think about anyway regardless of the internet age or not.
