Can't run any of Sam and Max: Devil's Playhouse anymore.

So, about 3 days ago, a friend of mine had gifted me Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse. I completed 301, and was hoping to start 302 today. However, when I choose play, it says "Could Not Initialize Direct3D", and then "Unfortunately, this error cannot be recovered,". I've tried updating my drivers, but it still doesn't work. Does anyone have any ideas what could've caused this, I was playing it perfectly before, and now I can't even run 301 again if I try. I haven't changed anything.
