Zombie slayfests Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record have made their long-awaited transition to Steamworks, and will be available TOMORROW, March 17th, complete with Steam Achievements! If you already own these games either through Steam (as GFWL titles) or as boxed retail copies, you can acquire a free Steamworks copy by following the instructions below. Please note that if you have the GFWL version, you can certainly continue playing there. All of our applicable GFWL titles continue to support LIVE features and will function normally. To continue playing on GFWL Service though, you must maintain a separate installation using the GFWL activation key.
I know what I'm buying when its on sale. Seriously, the only thing putting me off buying these was GFWL.
Hot dang, gonna have to get that to play with a friend, didn't even know it had co-op
FAAAAANTASTIC
I wish they would remove GFWL off Lost Planet 2, that would make me actually want to get the PC version of it.
I wonder when RE5 will be patched.
I wonder when RE5 will be patched.
A PC version of RE5: Gold Edition is on it's way, no idea if they'll remove GFWL from the existing version though.
Maybe I can finally finish this game then, was going play it co-op with a friend, but GFWL prevented us from even connecting to eachother. Hell, to even play it, I had to make a separate windows account or it'd just shout errors, don't think I've ever come across anything more buggy. Glad to see it's finally getting properly phased out.
OTR is my favourite Dead Rising. I can't wait to return to Uranus Zone!
Shame OTR has a incredibly lower performance than DR2, I think my friend and I would still enjoy DR2 on it's own.
I'M GOING TO URANUS ZONE I once bought OTR for my friend so we could play together, but for whatever reason GFWL didn't recognize his account and didn't let him join my game.
Im guessing they haven't started the retail migration yet because my key isnt working
I owned both DR2 and OTR on the Xbox 360 and put many, many hours into both. [sp]Most of said hours riding on the tricycle on solo or trying to communicate by jumping in place or calling out "Hey?" "Somewhere there?" with a random co-op partner online. Extremely fun, cooperative and memorable moments that were consistent every time I played with a random online happened right there. In fact, I could tell a hundred of these stories and still have more left to share.[/sp] I didn't even know/realize that the Steam version used GFWL, but I've always meant to get it on Steam when it went on sale but I always forgot about it. Very good! Can't wait to play both of what may be my most favorite co-op games of all time with a friend when I get them. edit: [sp]This is just to say, but I never finished the game on my own character, I finished the last chapter at least 15 times while being a guest on a random's host game! [/sp]:v:
Awesome, do they have any thoughts on when they'll patch Dead Rising 3 such that different refresh rate settings between players or Steam names that don't conform to the Xbox Live Gamertag syntax won't cause both parties of an attempted co-op game to crash?
