Upgrading for Christmas: Around 500-600 dollar computer upgrade.

I recently purchased a new graphics card and power supply for my computer and now I want to upgrade the rest for Christmas.
Specs:
Operating System:
MS Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit SP1
CPU:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Kentsfield 65nm Technology
RAM:
3.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 332MHz (5-5-5-15)
Motherboard:
Dell Inc. 0TP406 (CPU)
Graphics:
W2240 (1920x1080@60Hz)
SDM-S75D/F/N (1280x1024@60Hz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560
Hard Drives:
313GB Seagate ST3320620AS ATA Device (SATA)
Optical Drives:
TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653B ATA Device
Audio:
SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
Salvaging:
I plan on salvaging my cd drive, my graphics card, my power supply, and my RAM. I also have a 1 Tb hard drive that I haven't put in yet that I can use.
What I have so far:
I basically need a new processor, motherboard, and a case to put everything in.
Heres what I was thinking for the processor and case.
Processor

Case

So what I need from you guys is, your opinion on my two choices, a recommendation for a motherboard, and an answer to the question as to if I can simply buy more RAM for my computer or if they have to be of the same type.
Thanks to anyone who helps.
Phenoms everywhere.
Nope.
