Stephen Gough lost an appeal against a conviction for the breach of an Asbo. He appeared from Winchester Prison where he is serving a two and a half year sentence for breaching the order banning him from being naked in public. His counsel Matthew Scott argued Gough should have been allowed to appear naked at the original trial. Lady Justice Rafferty refused Gough's appeal.
It's a waste of money to keep him imprisoned and they know he'll continue doing it, they may as well just leave him be.
It's a waste of money to keep him imprisoned and they know he'll continue doing it, they may as well just leave him be.
but naked people are scary
free the dongs
I wonder how the situation would be if a woman did this.
It's a waste of money to keep him imprisoned and they know he'll continue doing it, they may as well just leave him be.
Just because he'll keep breaking the law whether you punish him or not doesn't mean he should just be allowed to do what he wants.
I really feel like prison's the wrong approach for this guy and these sorts of crimes, but it seems like he's already accumulated about 8 years on and off? Would this fall under mental illness or does he just really enjoy hanging out in his natural state?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that and I find it disgusting that anyone believes he deserves to be punished for it, let alone serve jail time.
it's lame cos he should be allowed to walk around naked but we've developed such a prude culture in regards to nudity that it would cause distress to the general public if he did.

Like aren't there areas designed for this + your own home where you can strip off and chill?

It's definitely kind of fucked up when you think about it. Like, I wouldn't mind having a society where clothes were mostly for keeping warm and most public places allowed nudity. This guy is remarkably patient and determined, sadly I don't think any laws will change because of him.
Honestly my stance on it is pretty much: so long as it isn't a public health issue, it's alright. Which pretty much puts me in the "please wear underwear and/or pants at least" side of things. Boob's aren't going to smear shit all over seating in a dining establishment but someone's filthy fucking ass will. Nude beaches and the like are totally fine though, just in the city I'd prefer it if people kept things as clean as we could, since you know, disease can spread really fast in urban areas.

That's the long and short of it. Is the law about this stupid/should it be changed? Most likely yes. That doesn't change that he broke the law and should be punished for that.
Enforcing laws for the sake of enforcing them is dumb and goes against the spirit of why they were put in place.
I know, but until it gets changed it should be enforced.
I'm against public nudity in crowded areas and private property but he's just walking around the country side jesus christ jail for this is insane, at least make it a fine at worst, but fucking jail? come on, I know he breached an order, but jail seems a bit, off
I know, but until it gets changed it should be enforced.
Not really, no. Our justice system is kind of a fucking mess, and there are tons of shitty laws that are stupid as hell but don't get enforced, and ought not to be. I mean look at this kind of shit. Technically, women weren't allowed to wear pants in France until recently. That shit shouldn't be enforced. :v:
at least he's consistent
As long as his dong is well kept what's the issue?
