BERLIN — President Trump has alarmed citizens of the nation’s closest allies and others worldwide, diminishing the standing of the United States in their eyes, according to a wide-ranging international study released Monday.
But in the survey of 37 countries, Russia is a bright spot for Trump. As beleaguered as the president is at home, a majority of Russians say they have confidence in him. And Russians’ attitudes toward the United States have improved since Trump took office.
Elsewhere, though, and with remarkable speed, Trump’s presidency has taken a toll on the United States’ image abroad.
The international survey by the Pew Research Center found that favorable ratings of the United States have decreased from 64 percent of people across all countries surveyed at the end of Barack Obama’s presidency to 49 percent this spring. The new figures are similar to those toward the end of the George W. Bush administration.
The president himself has fared even worse: A median 22 percent are confident that Trump will do the right thing in global affairs, down from 64 percent who had confidence in Obama.
From Chile to Italy, from Sweden to Japan, majorities consider the president arrogant, intolerant, unqualified and dangerous. On the flip side, most view him as a strong leader. And many expect their country’s relationship with the United States to withstand his presidency.
U.S. tumbling in U.S's regard under Trump
Well yeah.
People elected a joke and now wonder why the world is laughing.
I like how some of them were already ridiculously low and yet still managed to drop under Trump.
Trump: "The rest of the world is laughing at us! They're not gonna laugh at us anymore!"

I'd actually like to see just how the US compares to other nations on this subject. Like the actual numbers since it's pretty obvious that it'd still follow the same basic trend.
russia increasing that much
nice
also jesus christ, the swedes did quite the turn didn't they.
I'm surprised he has such a high rating in Mexico.
The cross section of countries that preferred Obama to Trump by a significant amount is interesting. You have countries that we have deep ties with, countries with standard friendly ties, countries that we have working relationships with, and countries we don't really work with at all.

On the other hand, I love you Israel, but man is that embarrassing. Obama wasn't that bad to ya'll.

"High" relative to how much he's shittalked them :vs:
I love how Trump only has a higher confidence rating than Obama in Israel and Russia.:v:

Phillipines has the highest Obama ratings and the highest Trump ratings. This is too weird for me. I can only assume Duterte has something to do with it

My Dad (from the Philippines) describes the general attitude of the Philippines as "eh, whatever." So if that's true, then there's a baseline of eh whatever that you can't go below.
It's pretty funny how much the rest of the world supported Obama considering how polarising he seemed to be in America.
Americans are also probably the most misinformed population in the west
Also racism

You can blame that on our Conservative media juggernauts.
I don't think his supporters even care. Who cares what the world thinks when America comes First?! /s

What'd Obama do to cause that dip with Germany in 2014/15?
That seems to be around the time the who NSA Prism thing happened, which would be when they found out we were basically spying on Angela Merkel. I'd imagine that was not all too well received there.

I think that was the NSA scandal and it being revealed that Merkel was being spied on by the US.

Ah yeah, I think you're right. I'd forgotten about that even happening.
How'd I not see Revenge282's post lmao
But yeah I guess if you focus so much on America you might not care what the rest of the world thinks of you. Just sad that so many Americans over here are now ashamed to tell others where they're from without Trump coming up.
