well, i haven't seen the video but the theory was on reddit for a long time

He mentions in the start that it's an old theory and mentions he's adding a lot more to it for the video.
Here's the problem with this theory: in trying to make Jar Jar Binks into this "sith lord", people are essentially justifying his character in the prequels when his character is inexcusably bad, which in turn justifies the prequels in some way. To me, this theory is nothing more than a distraction from how bad the movies are and undeserved validation that some people need to protect the franchise. They can't live with the fact that Star Wars had shitty movies and so they're willing to go the extra mile to make the case for George Lucas' unseen cleverness in the prequels - that maybe we shouldn't feel so bad about the prequels! This theory cannot detract from Jar Jar Binks making the movie literally miserable to watch for a good portion of people who loved the preceding movies.
I'm not even a Star Wars fan, let alone a big one, and I just see this attempt bordering clickbait and Stockholm syndrome, teetering in whichever direction according to the person that's talking about it. Hey, maybe this guy isn't that (but Jesus Christ that video name and thumbnail), and perhaps this theory is just a little fun that some people are having, but I see some people taking this theory way farther than a passing joke and actually accepting it like they would a conspiracy theory.
I'm sorry if jar jar is anything more than a vague cameo I'm going to melt faces.
This is the most retarded shit i've sever seen unless this guy is just being funny then it's hilarious.

Robot Chicken did it first, and better too.

jar jar is in SW7 I can confirm
[sp]Jar Jar isn't in it[/sp]
I know.
I mean if he's more than a vague cameo ever again in any post RotJ story then I'll melt faces.
I want to believe but I sincerely doubt georgie is even remotely this smart
With all the other glaring issues with the prequels (sand is course and rough and gets everywhere) and mind numbingly bad decisions why would jar jar binks be the one thing that's this masterfully planned out?
If it's too good to be true then it probably is.
This is still my favorite theory, realistic or not.
I love the theory because it makes the movies seem far more interesting than they are
you can't truly accept it as true, OBVIOUSLY, but you can humor the idea. Even if it were true the entire movie would still be completely bad

Funny thing is, I think the character who did a VO for Jar Jar Binks, when replying to the possible theory, said something along the lines of "It's good when even after a long time people realize something hidden".

perfect troll or revealing the truth

Well, it was also mentioned in some of the interviews that there was a lot of Jar Jar Binks story arcs cut out in Episode 2 and 3 due to backlash from Ep 1.
This theory is completely stupid. Like it's a fun thing to think about, but everyone is running around acting like it's the truth

This is better than prequel's existance.
I'll believe what I wanna believe.

What???
Watched the whole thing, and, man, it's sounds so believable that i hope it is real. It is just almost too good to be real. Darn it, now i see Jar jar binks as the dark side now.
binks is the main character in the xanth series for two books out of 40 total
I wouldn't say he's the main character of the xanth series, no one definitively is, just nitpicking though

I'm willing to bet Jar Jar Binks had a much larger role and the backlash made Lucas re-write it. The whole Rhyming thing, with Yoda being a crazy old idiot that turns out to be the Jedi Master... Jar Jar could have, and probably was going to, be the same. A much larger character than JUST childish comedic relief
Thank christ for backlash
If you watch Phantom Menace with this theory in mind it makes the movie kind of fun to watch, though
It makes me think back to the Indoctrination theory in ME3, in that it people are really just thinking more than what it is, bad writing and errors and people trying to make it seem less shit.

If he had been likeable as he was intended it would of been a fun twist.

[sp]Snoke we have seen was just a hologram, for all we know it might not be how he really looks like. I'd laugh my ass off if Jar Jar was canonically revealed to have been evil all along, it'd be the best plot twist ever and a lot of people would be super salty about it (which is why it's so unlikely, shame)[/sp]
It makes me think back to the Indoctrination theory in ME3, in that it people are really just thinking more than what it is, bad writing and errors and people trying to make it seem less shit.
The indoctrination theory just seems to me like it's grasping at straws to make a shitty ending into a better one and desperately believe there's some creative spark that will vindicate the final game. This theory is more like "this was planned but then dropped because lucas couldn't pull it off and he pussed out" and isn't held as even fanon by most. The prequels were shit, and whatever lucas was planning isn't going to change the product we got, but tons of cool shit gets left on the cutting room floor all the time and it helps make sense of some terrible choices he made.
With all of the intense scrutiny that the movies have received, it would have been remarkably entertaining to realize that the prequel trilogy was actually a highly avant garde magnum opus which managed to go over everyone's heads, unfortunately this is more of a fun visualization than anything else at the moment.
On the bright side we have the Plinkett reviews, which noticeably compensate for any dissatisfaction.
This reminds me about the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy, and the theory that Bane was actually Alfred, with the whole idea fitting in a little bit too well. Imagine the jaw dropping reveal.
