• Hugo Weaving not keen to return as Red Skull

The penultimate sequence of last year's Captain America: The First Avenger movie featured Steve Rogers heroically taking on Johann Schmidt himself, before the Red Skull was seemingly fried by the Tesseract. However, it's strongly believed that the HYDRA commander was transported into the cosmos, which left doors open for a possible return in another movie. While that return likely won't be in the forthcoming sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the villain's actor, Hugo Weaving, says he has no desire to reprise the role at all; Speaking with Collider, he said: "I [signed a multi-picture deal] for Captain America. I think the tendency, with those films, would be to probably not bring a villain back. They might for The Avengers, but I didn’t think I’d be in Captain America 2 or 3. I don’t think Red Skull will be there. And it’s not something I would want to do again. I’m glad I did it. I did sign up for a number of pictures and I suppose, contractually, I would be obliged to, if they forced me to, but they wouldn’t want to force someone to do it, if they didn’t want to. I think I’ve done my dash with that sort of film. It was good to do it and try it out, but to be honest, it’s not the sort of film I seek out and really am excited by. As an actor, to do all sorts of different films is great. It stretches you in different ways. But, I increasingly like to go back to what I used to always do, which is to get involved with projects that I really have a personal affiliation with." Marvel Studios are no strangers to recasting actors, but considering there have been multiple Red Skulls in the comics beyond Johann Schmidt, that potential dilemma could be easily resolved. Of course, this all depends on whether Marvel has any plans set for the villain in the future. http://collider.com/hugo-weaving-the-hobbit-trilogy-interview/203015/
So they confirm that the Red Skull will not appear in the second movie
I didn't think Captain America was that good.
Might as well not have Red Skull in at all then.
He was fine with returning for 2 terrible Transformers sequels though.
This guy should never have been Red Skull, instead of becoming more intimidating when his face came off and was revealed to literally have a red skull, he was made less intimidating by no longer looking like Hugo Weaving/an agent that will fuck my shit.
He was fine with returning for 2 terrible Transformers sequels though.
This was probably the last straw for him
Well Bucky is coming back I would think the Red Skull would come back. Or maybe they'll replace him with Strucker or Zemo.
shame, he was the movies saving grace imo
He was awesome as Red Skull though.
With the make up, it would be easy enough for someone else to play Red Skull. Only the voice would be different, if done right.
With that make-up, this character can be replaced relatively easy.

movie adaptations of comics are overrated and rarely good imo even animated adaptations tend to be better (for sure with Spiderman). Just cause you got explosions, HD cameras, and high production value that doesn't mean shit

Willem Dafoe Then they could watch whole cinemas shit their pants

At first comic book movies were kind of shit, but they're visibly getting better and better.
He was fine with returning for 2 terrible Transformers sequels though.
And two terrible matrix films
And two terrible matrix films
You can't put Matrix 2 and 3 in one pile. 3 was beyond any sort of redeemable feature you can't even lump it in with a 'bad' movie. Ever.
I didn't think Captain America was that good.
It was alright, but I feel like it was just thrown in to give him some back story before The Avengers.
He was fine with returning for 2 terrible Transformers sequels though.
That was only voice work though. A couple of days in the recording booth per movie.
Even I can do a great Agent Smith impression. I'll be Red Skull. It's okay guys I got it.
He was fine with returning for 2 terrible Transformers sequels though.
I think that had something to do with him only doing voice work for that.
all the latest movies were good, CA was the least best but very much up there in quality IMHO. Red Skull wouldn't make much sense returning though? I think?
Honestly: good, it's boring when it's the same villain over and over again, and after awhile it get's pretty annoying how unkillable they seem to get.
Fuck Red Skull. . .I wanna see THE HATEMONGER. He was a villain in orange Klan robes that turned out to be a clone of Hitler. 'Nuff said.
[sp]Red Skull's death was so fucking cheap in the captain america movie[/sp] Oh and yeah the entire film kinda felt weak.
Shame to see Weaving go.
