well yeah. doom was one of the best looking games of last year. of course it's gonna look worse on worse hardware
Tbh if it was in portable mode I really wouldn't notice I'm not going to shit on the Switch's hardware because its both portable while still being reasonably powerful, especially for Nintendo no less
Is it supposed to be surprising that one of the higher fidelity PC games of 2016 requires a visual downgrade to work properly on a portable console? It doesn't look too bad from what I can see either.
Honestly this is really impressive. This shows how scalable and how well optimised idtech 6 can be.

why are people surprised that a handheld isnt as strong as a full fledged console? its pretty impressive that the switch can even handle it at all
why are people surprised that a handheld isnt as strong as a full fledged console? its pretty impressive that the switch can even handle it at all
Not only that but a NINTENDO console of all things this coming from Nintendo proves objectively that they are heading to the right direction this isn't to shit on Nintendo of course, but they have always focused on other things.
I'm honestly surprised at how much they managed to scale this game down and still get what looks like a decent looking game.
This basically proves that idtech 6 is straight up wizardry. That is incredibly impressive scalability.
It was very obnoxious to read the article, the author seems to complain about any pixel seemingly sightly off, it looks fine to me and looks hella fun to play on the go
Right, like sure it looks a bit rough in screenshots on all of our high quality 1080p+ desktop monitors, it'll probably look fine on the Switch while actually playing the game though.
why are people surprised that a handheld isnt as strong as a full fledged console? its pretty impressive that the switch can even handle it at all
I wouldn't count "games journalists" as "people" in this instance. Nobody in this thread, for example, is so much as mildly surprised about anything other than how impressively they managed to scale it back.
The graphics are completely fine. It's a shame it doesn't run at 60FPS like all the other versions, but it's understandable for a portable console.
Sorry, what other console lets you play DOOM literally anywhere?

The Switch is such an awesome console.
It looks fine and all but the only thing preventing me buying this at full price is the 30fps. I have a hard time playing modern shooters at that framerate, especially one as fast-paced as DOOM.

Even when it's not, you'll probably not have as hard a time as you think.

My only complaint is how fucking blurry it looks, crank that fucking sharpness slider up a bit please.

Honestly I'd rather they unfuck their multiplayer than improve their console's hardware capacity.

Lightgun games r.i.p., we hardly knew ya.
