hello i got offered a '97 Integra LS with 151k miles
Im kind of unsure about the car it got a new headgasket @ 148k
new distributor @ 150
Its an LS and automatic
Excellent KBB is 2,800
Poor KBB is 2,000
my friend wants $1500
i dont know anything about these cars but the head gasket and distributor going makes me feel like more stuff could go wrong? the price is tempting though because its my first car.
what do ?
Get it, those cars are worth quite a bit. You are getting a superb deal.
KBB isn't really a basis for real world value, mainly for just dealers.
Post a pic of it too.
woo automatic integra
missing the only thing that made hondas entertaining to drive.
>3 liter automatics are retarded. powerband is high, automatics like to stay low

Even with 151k? If it weren't for the history with the headgasket and diz. blowing on it I would feel alot more comfortable. Knowing what you guys said I think I'll take a mechanic with me and jump on it.
@lemon_lover
i know, but its a first car , i'll buy a manual down the line. it's 1.8 l i think.
it isn't worth 1500

if you can get it for under $900 you'd be in good shape

Wait, what?
dude it`s a great deal
if it did not have 150000 miles
150000 kilometers is fine
150k miles in 13 years? probably driven to shit, auto tranny will fall apart soon probably
If it were taken care of properly 150k doesn't really mean a whole lot...
buy it, learn to drive in it, learn to work on it, learn how not to be a ricer.
deep shit right here
150k on a Honda. Hahahaha. I can't believe people still think that is a lot of miles o_o
If it's got a fresh head gasket, that's even better (if the job was done right).
Jap has a Civic Hatch with something like 240k on the original engine and transmission, never been apart and only suffers from a slightly leaking oilpan. My old EF hatch had the original block and head until I did a head swap for a D16Y7 head at about 217k, after putting a fresh head gasket on at 215k. Jap's old black DX Coupe had 190k on it and had a head gasket put on at 181k, still runs like new. The civic I have now has 274k on it, although I had to rebuild the top end after the head gasket blew at the oil jet, and ruined the head.
Hondas are ultra reliable, and 151k plus a fresh head gasket is a good deal. The B18B1 (I'm 100% certain that's what is in this car, being auto and LS trim) is a tank, probably take another 50-75k before you have anything big to do. Maybe more.
In the shape the body is in, that's not bad for that car if the interior is of matching quality. So it's an automatic? Who cares. It's not worth quite as much but still all the same. If you can knock off a few hundred, it's a hell of a deal at 12 Benjamin Franklin bills. If not, you can still feel alright about $500 under poor book value, as it seems like a super clean ride.
Once you get it, hold onto it for a while. Some light mods will catch attention (Decent rims, bit of tint, a set of coilovers, CAI, etc.) and you could probably get your money back later after some miles are put on.
Stray away from stupid "mods" that will make you look like a pompous ass (body kits, neons, z3 fenders, carbon hoods other than OEM, $15 fart can exhaust, etc.) and you'll have a respectable car. ;)

You are honestly one of the most fucking annoying people on Facepunch. Please go away. A pistol along with a hole respectable to your body size will be available upon request.

the average is 15k miles per year, so this car is actually pretty good in that regard

Headgaskets are pretty much a maintenance item on any car, and honda distributors like taking dumps. if it all just got replaced, I wouldn't worry about it being unreliable for about 100k. (Assuming the timing belt has been done, that is a must do)
why not wait it out until he can at least find a manual one? having the tranny go on him would suck and autos are expensive

don't know where you got that number that seems a little high
Don't even entertain the idea of buying an auto Honda, especially if it's mated to a B,K or H engine as the 'tip-tronic' boxes are seriously prone to overheating and will cost a lot of money to put right.
