Phillip Garrido has been sentenced to a total of 431 years in jail for his role in the kidnap and sex assault of Jaycee Lee Dugard.
The 60-year-old's wife Nancy has been jailed for life, with a minimum of 36 years.
The couple kidnapped Jaycee in 1991 when she was just 11-years old outside her home in South Lake Tahoe, California, and kept her captive for almost two decades.
Garrido, already a parolled sex offender, fathered two children with Jaycee, and pleaded guilty when she was freed in August 2009.
When he kidnapped Jaycee it was only three years after he was released from prison, where he served only 11 years of a 50-year sentence for a rape.
His wife was jailed for between 36 years and life, after a plea bargain with prosecutors and her lawyer, Stephen Tapson, read a statement to the court on her behalf.
He said his client acknowledging that "what she did was evil" that she was sorry and that "words are not enough".
Mr Tapson filed a request asking that Nancy be allowed to see her husband one last time before they start their sentences.
In addition he requested that she be allowed to remain the courtroom for her husband's sentencing. The judge denied both requests.
Jaycee's ordeal in captivity with Garrido and his wife came to light when she was freed almost two years ago, 18 years after she was snatched while walking to a school bus stop.
The Garridos were indicted in October on 18 charges including three counts of kidnapping, six of rape and seven of forced lewd acts upon a child.
They also faced charges of false imprisonment and one count of possession or control of child pornography.
In a deal with prosecutors agreed in April, he pleaded guilty to counts including kidnap, kidnap for the purpose of sex, forcible rape and forcible lewd acts.
And his wife pleaded guilty to kidnap and rape. Both have waived their right to appeal and the state of California has paid Jaycee $20 million in compensation for her suffering.
Jaycee was found alive nearly two years ago in the secret backyard compound of Garrido's home in Antioch, east of San Francisco, where he had imprisoned her.
Since being freed, she has been living at a secret location with her family including her two daughters by Garrido, now 13 and 16.
ive never understood why we give people ridiculous sentences like "YOU WILL SERVE 10,000 CRUSHING YEARS OF DARKNESS FOR YOUR CRIMES" rather than just saying "life in prison"
at least he gets what he deserves.
reminds me of that guy that got 600 years
everyone agreed he should have just gotten 6 death sentences

6 death sentences makes even less sense lol
6 death sentences makes even less sense lol
Pretty sure that's the joke.
As far as I'm concerned though, this guy got what he deserved.

Because a life sentence is 25+ years, 431 is 431
Because a life sentence is 25+ years, 431 is 431
but 431 is more than 25 :ohdear:

[del]but i wasn't even being serious[/del] :frown:
i read death sentences as life sentences, fuck.
Just wait, he will be out within 342 years for good behavior :argh:
See ya in 431 years, brah.
he's gonna have fun being raped for 431 years in prison
So are they going to put his head in a jar when his body dies to continue the sentence? Though it's good to hear that the guy is behind bars now... as well as his wife.

When will they ever stop this shit?
Wow, that's fucking amazing I mean, imagine the respect he gets for ''Hey bro how much u in for?''
''431 years man.''
fuck.
They give that many years incase he is acquitted of one of the charges but still has live in prison.

It's so that they can't get out on good behaviour or if they're eligible for parole they still can't get out.
If they have two life sentences and they get parole, they still have to serve another life sentence.
Finally this guy gets justice.

And then he gets beat up for raping a kid

I think they do that to counter sentence shortenings or something.
Still, pretty stupid, easier to say life in prison.

11 years for rape is reasonable, there was probably nothing to suggest he'd reoffend
Its rather surprising that they gave 400 odd years. Life without possibility of parole would suffice, seeing as how he isn't likely to be acquitted any time soon. I mean its not like he had two kids with the girl or anythi- owait he did.
431 years? That's nothing! If you're a mailman in Spain and you fail to deliver letters, you can end up like Gabriel March Grandos with a sentence of 384,912 years!
http://akorra.com/2010/03/04/top-10-longest-prison-sentences-in-the-world/
That's 191.4 times the time from Jesus alledged birth until today. More than nine years for every letter you don't deliver. Mail is serious business in Spain.
431 years? Shit son, he'll turn into that old bloke off of Shawshank Redemption when he gets out and finds out everythings changed
Didn't he go all Josef Fritzel on this chick?
Well can't say i'll miss him.
Pretty sure they give him that much just to make sure he stays in, even if they lower it.
11 years for rape is reasonable, there was probably nothing to suggest he'd reoffend
While that's true, I'm more referring to the fact that he got convicted for 50 years and they let him off after about 20% of it for 'good behavior'. It's just a concept I find completely retarded.

It just means his body will belong to the state for 431 years.
IE his family cannot give him a funeral until his sentence is up.
doesn't make much sense nor could I see the family giving two fucks about the disgusting perv. but there you go.
justice system working for
once
So will he serve the rest of his sentence in a special prison in Hell?
