Like "The Hunger Games'" Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, competitors on "The Hunt" will have to rely on survival skills.

The CW orders 'Hunger Games'-style reality show
Ready for America's Next Top Katniss?
The CW has ordered two new reality shows, including one that's clearly "Hunger Games"-inspired.
In "The Hunt," 12 tributes teams of two are dropped into the wilderness without food, water or shelter. They must compete in a game where they'll rely on their physicality, survival skills and hunting skills to endure the harsh conditions and kill "capture" one another.
The second new CW reality series is called "Perfect Score." This is a dating show where two friends compete to see who can pick their ideal mate from a group of ...
Yeah, so back to "The Hunt." The competition lasts a full month and the winner will receive a cash prize. No premiere date is set.
It's been awhile since any reality show really made a successful run at a "Survivor"-style competition, so it will be interesting to see how this one turns out.
The order follows The CW developing a drama series, "The Selection," that's been compared to "The Hunger Games" (the project is still alive, I'm told), and toying with the (ill-advised) idea of adapting ultra-violent Japanese cult favorite "Battle Royale," which has a very similar storyline to "The Hunger Games."
EW.com: Critics press The CW on 'Battle Royale' plans: 'You know what it's about, right?'
Perhaps "The Hunt" will be a way for the network to capitalize (Capitolize?) on the hit franchise, like "The Vampire Diaries" post-"Twilight" and "Arrow" post-"Dark Knight."

Sounds pretty hardcore and actually kinda interesting if they play their cards right.
But they won't, they'll either scrap the idea or the execution will be pathetic.
Aka Africa: The Documentary
Looks like someone doesn't understand the message of the book.
Reality shows are hardly reality anyways, so its not like it matters.
and then instead of possibly becoming an interesting statement about oppressive governments and violent culture, it turns into a shitty love triangle ~drama~
Filled with jumpcuts to angles that makes it difficult to believe the reality part.
If not then I believe we should have certain actors and musicians to participate, just to make it worth a little bit [sp]if they die.[/sp]

Like there was much of one in the first place.
It's a novel for children.
It'll all be scripted anyway like most reality shows are.

Battle Royal came first though
Kids being killed on TV?
Sounds like something I would dig.
But seriously I wouldn't watch it and would find it idiotic.
Battle Royal came first though
it's also better.
This is fucked up. It's like the arena games in the roman times.

Out of curiosity, what is it anyway?

Effigies of Mockingjays keep death at bay.
The Hunger Games trilogy was great and I loved reading it, the quality tapered out a bit in the last two books with the third being my least favourite, but they were still good.
It really annoyed me how much of the story was cut from the film though.

My ex basically forced me to read the first book. It was not that bad, but it all felt so much like a sweet sweet romantic saga I couldn't stand it.
The second book was too much for me. It was all about Katniss deciding who to bang with and stuff.

Haha what no, she practically [sp]plays Peter the entire time in the first book for her own survival, she wanted the others to kill him until they said two victors from the same district could survive.[/sp]
If they actually do it everything will probably be fake.

which is pretty much "violence is bad mkay"
I usually talk to my friends about something like this.
i wonder why game shows like wipeout and ninja warrior are always scaffolding.
sure they put a couple of fire jets in the background to make it look pretty but how come there hasn't been a fully themed gameshow since the crystal maze.
its a simple (and mostly completely aesthetic) change that would change the feel of the whole program i think.
me and some friends came up with an idea of a tomb raider style assault course with lots of hidden camera's along the path. hidden because fuck you its more immersive for the players.
there would even be a difficulty level to set ...normal would just be the traps ..hard would have an actor at the end like a boss fight you had to kill in some way ..and very hard has traps, a boss fight and a couple of "grunts" to dispatch along the way. the timer would not exist on very hard and would crank up to 5 minutes on a boss fight.
does anyone else think this idea would be cool or is it just me? ..also i suck at explaining so i'll leave it there for now
Never read the books or saw the movie AND I HATE reality game shows, but if they were gonna do that kind of show, it should be freakin' "All Star Quake Arena Survival". Sadly, it will probably never happen as we have yet to get teleportation working. And respawning will probably be like 100 years off. And all the product placement would just ruin the spirit of things.
FTR: I meant people actually participating in Quake Arena, not playing the game on a PC.
' "All Star Quake Arena Survival".

that's actually another idea we had ..why not just use some fancy effects instead of actually blasting the shit out of each other.
not like multimillion dollar movie style shit but just something like a mortal combat arena with the lava/acid pits that are just pits of bubbling coloured water or smoke and flickering lights or that rolling crusher thing that's actually made out of soft conforming material.
if you really wanted.. anyone who "dies" on the show could film it for editing in later ..like if someone falls into the acid pool they have a good laugh and they're out of the game right? ..but later after everything else is filmed they go back and film a sort of death scene ..put a bit of make up on add 5 seconds of thrashing around ..some sound effects and bam ..awesome death scene for the ones who fail.
did that make any sense at all ..i'm not good at explaining things
small details can make things much more interesting i find
reality Tv is the worst
Reality TV where kids die for the entertainment of French people. That's just missing the point of the books by a mile or twenty.
The Condemned was like Battle Royale but it was aired on TV so people could watch it and bet, this is more like that than the Hunger Games
I always said death row inmates should go on shows like these.
