Argentina’s cabinet chief said on Friday that the South American nation is willing to welcome more Syrian refugees fleeing their country’s civil war.
Anibal Fernandez said that the government eased the entrance of Syrians through a program begun last year, but he didn’t specify how many of the refugees had arrived so far. He said the Syrians will be welcomed through the country’s tradition of helping out during humanitarian crises.
“When you do something like this, it’s a very honest act that springs from affection and solidarity,” Fernandez said.
He said he had been troubled this week by the image of a dead 3-year-old Syrian boy on a Turkish beach. The photograph has drawn the world’s attention to a wave of migration fueled by war and deprivation.
Since civil war broke out in their country in 2011, more than 4 million Syrians have sought refuge abroad, the largest number from any crisis in almost 25 years, the United Nations has said.
That's pretty nice, we have a history of receiving refugees. But I can't help but think most of them tend to avoid countries like Argentina - or most South American countries - because there are no social benefits for them to take advantage of, that's why they seem to avoid Hungary and want to go to 1st world countries, and like most people, that doesn't really sit all that well with me. I mean geez... in the face of desperation, you take what you can get, as in, *anywhere* but my country. Unfortunately, beggars can't be choosers.
Also, and this is my own opinion on the matter, it's incredibly hypocritical of this government, and the rest of the Latin American governments, to jump on this bandwagon, when we clearly are ignoring the conflicts in the Venezuela border perpetrated by Maduro's government, for instance. It's literally happening in our back yard, and no one bats an eye. But for the Syrian refugees, we'll play nice and pretend we care about tragedies. It's fucking bullshit.

Btw, We've only received 90 refugees, since 2014 (source in Spanish).
Obviously they're only doing this since they know hardly anyone will come. It makes no sense to go from Syria to Argentina of all places, from a locational and economic point of view.
Nothing much else to say about it really.
Well I wouldn't focus it on social benefits abd more on having a perspective in General; Germany has a much stronger Economy than Hungary and therefore more jobs to offer. Secondary it has an excellent reputation in the middle east. Third it's rather costly to travel to Europe which is also easier than traveling to South America. Still it is a nice move of Argentinia.
They should be given lands to be farmed in la pampa and the south
Dont like working? We send them back to Syria
