Russ Tice worked as an offensive National Security Agency (NSA) agent from 2002 to 2005, before becoming a source for this Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times article exposing NSA domestic spying.
This week he appeared on the Boiling Frogs Show and detailed how he had his hands "in the nitty-gritty, the nuts and bolts" during his 20 years as a U.S. intelligence analyst.
Tice claimed that he held NSA wiretap orders targeting numerous members of the U.S. government, including one for a young senator from Illinois named Barack Obama.
"In the summer of 2004, one of the papers that I held in my hand was to wiretap a bunch of numbers associated with a forty-some-year-old senator from Illinois. You wouldn't happen to know where that guy lives now would you? It's a big White House in Washington D.C. That's who the NSA went after. That's the President of the United States now."
"The abuse is rampant and everyone is pretending that it's never happened, and it couldn't happen. ... I know [there was abuse] because I had my hands on the papers for these sorts of things: They went after high-ranking military officers; they went after members of congress — Senate and the House — especially on the intelligence committees and the armed services committees, lawyers, law firms, judges, State Department officials, part of the White House, multinational companies, financial firms, NGOs, civil rights groups ..."
Tice told Sibel Edmonds' radio show that back in 2005 the NSA didn't have the processing power, infrastructure, and storage to collect everything, but a source inside the NSA today confirmed to him that increased capabilities allow the spy agency to copy "every domestic communication in this country, word for word, content, every phone conversation, every email — they are collecting everything in bulk and putting it in databases."
"Outrageous abuses ... have happened, and it's all being kept hush hush."
"It is incredible what the NSA has done... they have basically turned themselves into a rogue agency that has J. Edgar Hoover Capabilities on a monstrous scale"
Wow, the NSA was spying on Obama in 2004? Also, why is this the first time I am hearing about him whistle blowing the NSA in 2005? No wonder why Edward Snowden did what he did if it was just going to be swept under the rug like this guy.
Now we need Obama's reaction to this.
Just goes to show that our realities are shaped by what we know and we as a population don't know much.

I think he is probably aware of it by now, and was probably given an offer he couldn't refuse.

Lets go on a learning spree!
I wonder how long it will take before a few certain individuals start vigorously defending the NSA's actions here. What the NSA in my opinion is borderline treasonous.

He probably doesn't give a shit. He's the guy who smoked weed, told everyone he smoked weed, then cracked down on marijuana harder than Bush.
I can just imagine conspiracy theorists opening their window and shouting out "I TOLD YOU! BUT YOU WOULDN'T LISTEN!"

Hate to say it, but.... Conspiracies!
He's just a public figure to whoever has the most power, and its amazing how all of this shit seems like out of Deus Ex, with people behind the shadows doing shady shit nobody wpuld ever find out.
And guess we now a new terrorist traitor...

The great thing about statements like this is that you don't have to source them.
Bush's NSA was wiretapping his political enemies in the government, along with countless other Americans? This may be the first scandal in the last 10 years that literally DOES warrant a Watergate comparison.
Now we know why the NSA cultivated such a culture of absolute secrecy: Because they're doing batshit insane, blatantly illegal shit like this.
Soon, the rest of the civilized world that isn't busy asslicking the US would demand the forced shutdown of the NSA.
How can they gather all these records on some of the most powerful people in the country without them knowing? Is the NSA some sort of super secret organisation run by people who don't answer to the Government?

Well surprisingly enough, it's run by mortals.

I think it is just ran by Judge Dredd wannabes.
With this guy now in Russia, the U.S. must be shitting themselves. Who knows what else he will leak now that he's in a safe place for him.
This is how you do whistleblowing right. Make it known without endangering anyone else.
I just hope Snowden returns to the US to face court so that people like Tice can come forward and expose hard evidence to the public in a court of law.

Probably the conspiracy theorist in me talking, but somehow that seems like it might be the case, even though the possibility of Obama being a bit more Conservative than we thought is also possible.
I guess we won't know until someone blows the whistle on whoever's keeping a gun aimed at Obama and his family 24/7. Though as I've said, it could just be that he's been infected by the conservative bacterium and become a bit of a knob.
